My drive reading speed:
1TB Western Digital Black Edition 7200 RPM
Got an error when trying to run write speed, not sure why.

Maybe you both should run a chkdsk /f from a command prompt?

Disk check came up good. Drive runs fine with everything else. Other programs are able to do write tests. Not sure why this one can't.

It may be just a glitch with HD Tune. I quit using it because it will change my Power Plan settings. If ATTO or other can do read tests you should be fine.

guys im upgrading to a 2TB WD green,wanted to know,there wont be any performance problems? As i will be using it alone without any other HDD for backup,might buy a 120GB SSD or 160GB raptor later if i can find any in good prices.

The WD Green series has a power saving feature which turns it off after some period of activity. If you don't need it all the time that should work fine for backups.

No, never use green drives. They are horrible and known to fail often. I won't go near them. Go with the black edition for speed. Or if you want true dependability, go with the red edition.

No, it will shut down and be slow to spin back up. You can go with the WD Red or Black series or Seagate Constellation, they won't do that.

Personally mate I prefer the Seagates I have never liked WD stuff to be honest but perhaps I am a magnet for the bad ones.

The Barracuda series have always served me well so Seagate Barracuda 2TB ST2000DM001 http://www.seagate.com/sg/en/internal-hard-drives/desktop-hard-drives/desktop-hdd/?sku=ST2000DM001 not expensive I find very acceptable performance and thr SSD you can use for your boot drive when you get it

Having said that too I do not like large drives also cos I tend to think lose the larger drive the more data you lose. I stick to 500GGB ones.

Here is a new one. My minimum transfer rate seems to have improved a lot than m previous score which was 0.7 mb/sec.

My new seagate 2TB Been stressing it for the past 3 days continuously so the score isn't that bad IMO. I expected worse.

Here you can Clearly see how the Seagate SSHD shines..
Its Stupid fast at first. Then the 8Gb SSD Cache starts to run out and the drive dipps. But compared to other HDD its accually very consistant and only dips slowly over time. The Hickups are not very large nor common and the Burst tests are pretty fast

Brand spankin' new WD5000AAKX. I did have to put a jumper on it to throttle it back to 3Gbps because my mobo doesn't have 6Gbps capability.
I also took a screenshot of the SMART attributes after formatting the drive.
