My new rig!

looks nice but how come there is only one drive? lol

According to system specs, he's got "Western Digital Caviar Black 640GB 7200 RPM, Western Digital Caviar Black 500GB 7200 RPM". I think the 500GB is thin enough to be hidden by the drive clips...

I got all happy with it being done that I had taken these pics before the 2nd drive or the extra 120mm fan(gpu duct) was even installed. Trust me it's there now...lol Still got to save up a bit for an ssd.

linnemeyerhere
Jeepmann4x4,
Wicked set up, I love the cable management in those Hafx cases and the H70 with one fan outside was a novel approach. The rig no doubt fairly fly's with your premium components installed. Great looks and even better build, congrat's.
Its a great case lots of room! I put one of the H70 fans outside for more room and cleaner look inside plus doing it that way let me use the HAF x stock 140mm and 1 of the H70's 120mm instead of the 2 120mm. As I said above I threw the other 120mm in the GPU air duct.

Also, Thanks to all that have commented on it.... now to stretch it legs...:geek:

setan berdasi,
Funny how you don't like this setup as most everyone here has nothing but praise for it's clean looks and function. This leads me to believe that either you're fishing for a complement (mission accomplished) or this other rig you speak of is totally insane in the membrane (must see pictures some day please). I'm sorry you have to slum with this system and should you want to get rid of it, may I stand in the front of the long line that will follow.

I actually understands where he's coming from....

Though it is a very clean rig, he wishes for better components - that's his complaint.

Honest mistake.

I must admit though, I've got 4 drives in my box (250GB, 400GB and 2x 500GB), I'll be adding a 2TB in a month or two, and I'm not entirely sure how long it will be until I need even more. Drive space is like a very addictive drug, the more you have, the more you want...

I used to be like that, had to have a least 4 high capacity hard drives. Now I just have 3 drives in my system - A 120gig SSD drive, a 750MB and 1TB hard drive for storage and games. If I need more space or backup I just throw in a swap drive, store my data, and remove it.

Helps wtih wire management as I don't have all those extra wires and connectors to deal with.

That makes sense, when I get the 2TB, I may end up removing one of the drives.. Most likely the 400GB since that's the oldest and slowest. The end goal for my build is to have a SSD for the system drive, two 500GB in RAID0 for games and programs, and a 2TB for straight storage.

I should actually put up one or two more pics sometime soon, I did some fancy footwork with the wiring in my case. All the wires for my front panel are hidden inside the front panel itself (between the plastic cover and metal frame), and my drives are turned around so the cables come out the front instead of the back by the motherboard. Makes it one hell of a mission to work with my drives, but it looks way better this way.

My humor is dry and matched with acerbic wit makes for often miscommunication as well. What I was trying to say is you have nothing to be concerned for. In fact your pictures quality and the clean layout of your second system speak volumes for your attention to detail. Hope we can all see your primary system one day.

Eblim,
Nice clear pictures of your system. I like how you squeezed in the GTX and the bigger PSU. Good job with the cable management with the stock Gateway case. How are your temps running with the 460 in there?

Temperatures are great actually. I have been running my computer with the side case open because of my system fan spinning at 3,800rpm. It's too loud. I've checked the BIOS and I can't manually adjust the fan speed.

Now that I have a couple other projects out of the way, I'm thinking about rebutchering my PSU, as shown on my original post.
I probably already know this but I just want a second opinion on the power ratings...

DSC00317(2).JPG
The power supply is rated at 450W.
Remember, I'm from NZ and we use 240V out of the wall.
So, the black cables are the grounds (indicated by the red boxes)

What I'm looking at doing is removing all the grounds (6-8 I think) and splicing them into a single higher rated cable. Then splicing it back to the 6-8 at the plug.
Reason for this is instead of having the 26 cables running up the back of the mobo pane, it'll be reduced to 20ish.
In pic3, the power bus is quite fat, and is actually sandwiched between the mobo pane, and the side panel.

Furthermore, doing the same for all the +5v, +12, and all similar rated wires. So I'l probably end up reducing the power bus to around 6-7 cables.
Example:

Thoughts? Ideas?
It probably is simple and straight forward, just a matter of buying the right cable which I'll be doing closer to the end of the week.

MadSupra354,
The rig looks great and I'm sure it's no slouch. That 6950 looks to have just fit and with all that ram I'm sure it fly's through tasks. Now just save up for a SSD to flush out the build.......nice work !
