I got everything setup the way I want and she is running smooth & fast! This was my first computer build from scratch and I can't believe how everything came together so easily with a outstanding outcome. I'm a little disappointed with the Corsair SP2500 speaker system but maybe it will get better with time? My 9 year old Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 speaker system totally blows the Corsair system out of the water. The Corsair has good imaging but the Klipsch has higher output, better sound and cost $100 less.
My work area is a section of my garage that I finished off with carpet and plywood walls that I use to service my motorcycle collection. It's much quieter out there then in the house with the wife, kids & pets.
For anyone thinking about building their own system and is scared of the out come I say go for it. There is a ton of info available here and if you get stuck on something there is plenty of help here. I found most of the info I needed by using the search function and reading online reviews.

Try placing the speakers on two small boxes and raising them, if this improves the sound then I like to get two old cigar boxes and filling them with lead or sand. The speakers may also open a bit after hours of play a moderate levels. Nice picture is that you? I'm more of a mountain biker but Fox gear rocks !

I wondered how they'd stack up against the Klipsch; nice to have someone who has heard both. Try linnemeyerhere's suggestions about experimenting with different positions of the satellites.

BTW, nice system. Building is fun, and you're never done.

That's interesting on the speakers, as the reviews of these have been wonderful. I just output from my sound card via spdif to my receiver....so speakers aren't something that I actively research.

The thing with speakers, is that you dont blast them right away.
If they are brand new, you need to run them in for about 100hours. Not continuously of course, but just have them at around 30-50% for two weeks. This lets the rubbers soften up and become more movable.

But I'd also suggest, if the walls are plywood, why not build some speaker stands onto them?

That's true to a certain extent, mainly for large home stereo speakers. Good advice though.

Just got a new 26" BenQ monitor for free

And not only that, I just got a sweet-ass Geforce 7950 GX2 for nothing too!

Sadly, I can't install her in my system untill I upgrade my PSU.

Yup the monitor is actually wicked in gaming, Rickss! Even when not at native resolution, it keeps nice n' sharp.

@Linnmeyer: Well, I just got lucky I guess. My brother got the monitor for free for me from a friend of his, and I got the 7950 GX2 at work (in a local computer repair shop), 'cause it was sitting there for months and my boss just said "You like gaming, take it!"

Guess it pays to know the right people.

Hey guys just another update... finally got the LGA 1366 clip for my cooling kit. My i7 was basically idle at 71c... with the stock fan/hs and at stock speeds :shock:

Got my WC kit fitted and im now @ 4ghz stable with core temps of 36-37c idle & 65-69 Load (Realtemp)

Lol... My trusty little Logitech system must be nicely worn-in then.

Over the weekend I checked my Winamp output stats (the output plugin I use has a 'played time' counter), and it's sitting on nearly 4500 hours on a 1 year old installation... Oh, and I've had these speakers for about 4 years.

What can I say, I really like rock music.......

Finally got my new rig going kept adding parts to it for about 2 months it took me but finally up and running !

I concur, a quality 650watt is plenty enough. Your rig probably draws no more than 420watts max. It seems many people like to overspec that PSU in hopes of future proofing their build.

I agree, for the OP's rig that 650 is plenty. Nice system BTW.

For what it's worth I had an Antec 550 watt PS powering my system. Moved to an Antec 850 Signature series which is more than I need but I wanted that power supply.

I just believe the psu is the most overlooked part when building good rigs.
It's nothing against it, hell it looks better than my build. Which is a cable nightmare. More because I never bothered to tie them properly than anything...

I would agree - but in this case the OP got it right

Anyway you might want to invest in some tie straps and clean those loose wires up - helps with air flow and dust management
