Agree, I never had any problems with Vista.

Me either. Of course I skipped from XP to Seven :D

A Guy

ROFL :roflmao:

I think the problem was, Vista launched and a fair few people adopted it early, people with slow computers complaining was bigger than people enjoying it, so everyone elso avoided it. shame really :(
(but i was honestly laughing at A Guy's quote :))

well, congrats on getting a 7.9 though! thats the sort of thing i aspire to get one day. I wonder if my future dream build could get several 7.9s...

Thanks, Yeah I can't figure that out. But I don't notice the change at all with day to day use. I actually have two 7.9's My memory overclocked to 1833 mhz is also a 7.9. At least that one stays.. :)

So, today, I received my Cooler Master Hyper N520 CPU Cooler and well, that thing is huge! Well, according to my calculation, it will fit in my Lian-Li/Lancool PC-K62.

So!

It's time for the tests "before" and "after". So yeah. Oh and, btw, I'm still running on the stock one while writing this...

Before
Idle :
idle-1.png

In charge (100%) :
Test consists of batch converting 111 FLAC files to MP3 (320kbps @ Slow (high quality) settings) using dBPowerAmp v12 (which is multi-threaded)

InCharge.png

Well, about time I change this stock CPU cooler heh? See ya later for the "After" test :)

OK, guys. Installation was hard and easy. Why? That Intel stock fan is a b* to remove. We had to use tongs to get one pin out. After that, we removed the CPU, cleaned it from the old thermal paste and put it back to the place with new thermal paste. The easy part is to install the new fan! It fit like a breeze and very easy install. Now, on idle, I see a very good improvement. Core 2 to 4 can see a temperature drop as good as 10C.

Idle :
idle_cm.png

I don't know if I left it idle long enough though...

In charge (100%) - same test as above :

WOW!!! Just compare... that's two different world! There's a whole 15oC difference (with the first core anyway)! I will reactivate Hyperthreading and Turbo Boost right now! :D :D

P.S I will add pictures of the fan a bit later.

So...... I got my Phenom II x3 the other day (not working yet, but I'm hoping a BIOS flash will fix that), and I got my EVGA GTX275 SuperClocked Edition today.
picture.php
I'm grinning like a 10 year old at Christmas right now....

But (why is there always a 'but'??), I think I might need a new case though... Lol. My 8800GTS is 9" long, and it only just fits my case. The GTX275 is 10.5" long. I'll play around over the weekend and see if I can work some magic with my trusty Dremel, but if not, then my GTX will be a glorified paperweight until I get a now case.. Dangit, why does it have to be so darn big!

I'll get some pics up once I've managed to get everything up and running again...

About time i posted up my setup I think.

Currently planning a full water loop to go in next, hence the removal of the 3bay HDD cage. (big design floor in the base though, with how the holes are laid out.

The main door has the 200mm fan on it too, and just about fits with the H50 where it is.

The Phantom isn't as cool as my previous Antec1200, but with the amount of space in the Phantom, it lends itself better to watercooling over the 1200, which with this build in, was getting very tight indeed, despite it's sheer size.
