Haha, yeah.. And unashamedly so. I ran two old XFX 320MB 8800GTS cards in SLI quite a while back, pretty much just because I had two of them... The high temps and power draw really didn't justify the performance, but it looked pretty impressive.

just finished upgrading my rig today!

i kept the case, the dusty cards and drive and ripped out the old dual-core mobo/cpu/ram/fan and replaced with new Sandy Bridge i5 2500K and 8 gigs of ram goodness. maybe i'll stick an i7 in there one day...

i think i may have put the heatsink/fan the wrong way round, but hey-ho, it still keeps it cool.

i used a mobo auto-overclocking feature to crank the cpu from 3.3 to 4.2 GHz - I'm sure it'll go higher if i spend some time mucking around with voltages, not sure if i'll need to yet...maybe on a rainy day.

couldn't be bothered to do any benchmarking, but this new rig sure seems a lot swifter than it used to be.

Good Morning Everyone (or whatever part of the day it is where you are at),

I have updated some of my stuff in my PC for the upcoming BF3!

I had a 512MB nVidia 9800GTX+ video card but that would not handle the BF3 Beta..

So I upgraded that to a MSi 2GB HD 6950 PE/OC (see pic below - not my pic)



Since I only had a 500w Antec PSU I figured I'd upgrade that while I was at it.

I went with the OCZ 700w Mod-Extreme Pro (see pic below - not my pic)


I also went from Windows 7 Home 32-bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

Nice GPU, that is quite a jump, enjoy

Here's my current build. Still working on it, plan to sli another 560 and add some cold cathodes and fans.

That MSI looks sweet !!

Yeah it's definitely sweet so far. Only game I've tested is BC2 and it runs smooth!

A very nice new GPU + PSU, 96accord. MSI in my opinion is great so you should have minimal troubles with it. I hope anyway.

I prefer asus,but have built a few msi rigs and they have some nice features included for overclocking.

And the cable management is fun for me,it rounds up the entire rig,sort of like the cherry on top.

howdo folks,
city link finally turned up at tea time yesterday. got card in and sorted cables as best i can. prob with my case is cable management. only a small space next to drive bays. its better than it was lol.
card looks nice in, nice n quiet on the performance fan profile and 5c lower temp @ idle than my 6850 was. i havent had chance to test it yet tho. will l8r

I live with a case with less than ideal cable options as you are. You have done a very good job with these limitations to keep things neat and tidy. My MSI card like yours runs so much cooler than my old GTX260OC and the case temps drop with a small effect on the CPU temps. Your use of the H50 is ideal with case air blowing out the back along with a top exhaust fan. Great overall rig and it's look and spec's are top flight with a nice OC as well !

Tried to unlock my MSi HD 6950 Twin Frozr III to a HD 6970.. Well it unlocked but while I was playing Bad Company 2 the PC locked up.. Restarted PC and then it locked up again.. I went to the backup Bios on the card and then flashed the primary bios back to stock..

My second is also an inch smaller than my main monitor. Can't complain though.....got the main for $45.

nice1. i gotta change it. its doing my head in. for the life of me i cant get a decent white on it. its dull n yellowy.. its an aoc f22s+ will do for the babby tho. wanna get the same as my main. ilike that 1

I'm not a fan of multiple monitors.. But I think when I move in with the fiancee I will get a second monitor. I will also have more desk space so that will hep. Currently I could not have a 2nd monitor.
