Finally got everything in my new rig working. I'm quite happy with it all, all working nicely except the H100 which seems to have the noise issue inherent in many units causing it to sound like a noisy fish pump. I need to either make a voltage adapter for it or see if a RMA will fix it, but I don't wan't to do either (I just want it to shut up ).

I still have some minor adjustments to make, the main one being I cant close the back panel due to the cables, I'll fix it when I can be bothered.

Bit of an odd angle but I had it on a longer exposure to get the lighting right, I had no tripod so I had to improvise with books .

Realy nice looking build tomha, can i ask what fans are they and would you recomend them?

They are silverstone Ap121 blue Led fans. The light they produce is fantastic, unlike many fans which have the LEDs in the frame, these have the LEDs in the center of the fan, completely lighting up the blades as you can see. I'm not a huge fan of their silver frames though. Noise wise...average, full speed you do hear them, and they make a loud humming sound using PWM, but they undervolt with the included adapters just fine, and virtually silent on 5 and 7 volts. Airflow wise, they are made to be focused airflow, and they do that well, but they don't move as much air as I would hope. Overall, not bad, but when I go get more fans, I'll be trying something new I think, Corsairs fans look very nice, not to mention the fact I'm a bit of a fan boy

Wire management wasn't too bad but installing those bottom two SSD's wasn't the easiest, a lot of bending and forcing the power and sata wires in place.

Pic 3 you can see I'm ready to install a second 6950, the two power connecters just laying there are being patient with me.

Last pic I imagine I could of used a larger fan or another type of cooling system on top but this setup works just fine. Never have issues with temps.

My previous pc was a HP Pav P4. I wonder when this rig will begin to look like my old P4? I think a new rig with some ability to upgrade can last a person 3-5 years.

I'm sticking with my old Phenom II Black Edition 6 core for now, the newer FX and Vision cpu's don't look like much of an upgrade yet.

Just like any other hobby, if you wanna play you gotta pay.

The new gear looks off the hook sweet. I wonder why the 500 is having a space issue for the wires but really as long as it closes even if it pooches out some who cares? The look of the case, mobo, ram, cooler, fans it's all real clean.....great job!

Another wicked system and that six core is a massive performer. Yes do crossfire and post some pic's when you do. I like the hints of red in the system and I'll bet it glows nice in the dark !

It's really just an issue of cable management, I can get it to close but there is a lot of bulging . I just need to arrange it a little better, so many cables though, 4 sata, 2 sata power, 1 molex power, the 24 pin, 8 pin, the huge ass USB 3.0, case power and audio, 2 6 pins, 4 fan cables, and while they all could fit in the bulge shape in the panel, the grommits where all the cables want to be only allows for 1-2 cm of space, it's tricky

I don't have a desktop but I have always wanted to build one, with the fancy lights cooling etc. only I would have a bridge with some lego stormtroopers patroling etc!

Gah so many ideas! My brain is jizzing itself!

I need to post more on my Rig as well did some revamping and cable managment looks pretty sick i want to get another SSD but can't justify why right now

My current SSD is 60% full and I feel i need to do a re-install and get rid of some junk or just get a new one and hook this one on the spare rig

The OCZ are 104.00 at Microcenter plus a rebate knock it down to 89.99

Some very nice new rigs here! Congrats Tomha, psychotron , and simonwetting (we need some pics mate). Well done all.

On another note, I bought the cpu cooling "stuff" but the more I look at my chassis the more I think I shouldn't have bought the cpu "stuff", don't have the perfect amount of space for it and I think it will look over cluttered in there after I installed it all, so I may just end up with more unopened items in my drawer haha.

I have my Oc settings saved so that shouldnt be a issue correct

Just out of Curiosity is the vertex 4 better ? Because the read and write trumps the V4

simonwetting, Welcome to Seven Forums. That's some serious lighting going on there. What case is that, it looks like a BitFenix Coloussus, but I didn't know they came with a side window. Nice job, well done. Looks very good. How about filling out your system specs, we want to know what's inside.

I'll echo what Steve said: very good-looking rig. It'd be even better if we knew what was inside though; best I can make out is what looks like a H100 and the NZXT Hue.

I was supposed to run some things by you guys and here they are - I'm planning on replacing every single fan I'm currently using with some Phanteks units in either white with black fan blades or completely white, one BitFenix Spectre for the front 230, and one NZXT FN-200's for the side panel.

I know everyone always goes on about the instabilities of software overclocks and such, but I was a little bored and wanted to see how my system performed, so I went ahead and tried Asus' TurboV EVO OC utility. I went for the extreme setting and although it got to about 4.65ghz, it was unstable and caused a system crash, so it buttoned back to the current OC:

I haven't tested stability extensively, I've run prime95 for a while, but it could definitely do with further testing. I don't know if I will stick with the OC, I don't actually need it and it only stresses the components more. I was just experimenting with what the system could do.

Temps aren't amazing, under load the max temp I have seen is 78 degrees Celsius, although I think there are several reasons for this. First is the Ivy Bridge factor, although this should be..minimal. Second is my setup with the h100, first, my application of thermal paste wasn't fantastic, it wouldn't hurt to get some AS5 or something and try again, and I have swapped out the fans with some of my own. These fans aren't really meant to be radiator fans (well kinda, but they aren't high performance). I am sure if I swapped out the fans I could decrease temperatures a bit. Idle, it sits around 25 Celsius.

I believe the major issue with software overclocks are the resulting temps, a product of another issue, the generally high voltages set by the software. A Guy
