cheers folks. Yeah i've really tried with the cable management as i want it too be special for her. Plus it needs to have really good airflow as i've heard those 460's get quite hot which also means loud when it comes to nvidia. Especially stock coolers. I hurt like f*** at the min but have got to get it finished today so i get everything installed and rock solid stable so i'm not constantly having to sort problems with it.
Hopefully she appreciates the effort gone into it, i know she's really looking forward to getting it as she's told all her mates that i'm building it and tha nobody else will have one like it. I have a feeling it will sit unused by her though once the novelty wears off but atleast she'll be able to use it for anything she needs for a few years.
In the time she has it though i will try to teach her as much as poss from what i've learned here. Then when she leave's home she can upgrade it herself :D
It will get plenty of use from my mrs i think while the babby is at school as she likes the look of my graphics. Better than her xbox :p

Edit: I finally got the build finished but not got time to power it up tonight, Meeting about our servers. So i'll get windows installed tomoz.
Here's another couple of pics for ya. The camera washed the colour out of the stickers so they dont look to good. Turning the light off may of helped :p The Storm is pink

That looks totally awesome mate, really great job you have done there!

Cable management could be a tad better. I wish I'd spent a bit more on the case.
Also I had to face the PSU fan inwards since when facing down it was very loud plus the case does not have filters for the PSU (could it be that it chocked when facing down?). This way it is almost silent even when under load and it stays clean. :)

Ganjiry: Cool rig! Vey nice gift.

Fantastic job for a first build there Bungee, looks great:cool:

ganjiry, well done. A really great build. I know she will be mighty proud of that one. You outdid yourself.

@bungee18, great looking rig. You did well, especially for you first build. Congratulations on a job well done. It looks like a great build.

Paul, essenbe,
Thanks for your comments.
I enjoyed myself so much while doing it that I'm seriously thinking about starting a new one and giving this one for xmas to my oldest nephew.
The only reason I might not do it is that since down here is summer I'd rather be out there in the water kite surfing and fishing.
Maybe I'll start a new one at the end of the summer. The temptation is strong though.
Cheers!

Bungee, to answer your question, it is possible that the PSU was choking. Just looking at the case, it looks like it is sitting flat on the table. The PSU has no place to pull air from. Put some legs or castors under it and try it again. It needs some way to draw outside air in. You can buy magnetic filters that will attach to the bottom, so it does not draw dust inside the PSU. With it up like that, it is pulling in warm air from inside the case attempting to cool itself, plus there is too good an opportunity of dropping a screw or something inside it. Then you will have problems. Just my .02 cents. But, there are a lot of people who install them fan up, so you have to decide that one for yourself.

Ganjiry,

You coulndn't be more right. Right after posting I started browsing some of the pics in this thread.
Could not help it and had to take the thing apart once again! :sarc:
Luckily I had some cable ties (several sizes and colours :geek:) to help me do a proper job this time around.
Also I couldn't bare the old skool look of the PSU fan facing inside, so I went ahead and turned the PSU upside-down again.

As you said, I'm stuck.

I'm already planning my next build. I think I'll go Intel this time. Not that I need the additional performance, but I want TRIM in RAID and the new ASUS Sabertooth for Intel is nothing short of amazing.

As linnemeyerhere said, I'm beginning to think it is more an infection than a bug.

Cheers.

Here's how it looks now

I'm only keeping as a single colour though. She'd love it purple but since the pink behind my monitors is meant to be purple. I'll go with red to match her fans led's

Ahh ha! I would keep a single color as well. I think constantly changing colors would make me sick and/or annoyed.:D

I was planning on doing the RGB led tape too! Down here it goes for like 20 bucks a meter. They'll cut it to any length you want and then weld a a molex connector and any switch you like to it, but I've been unable to find a switch that I can mount on my chassis, and I want to be able to turn it on/off.
Then I found a set of two cold cathodes (they come either in R, G, B, Y or W) that already comes with with the 4-pin connector and a switch you can mount on an expansion slot to turn on/off and regulate intensity. Sleeved cables and everything.
I think I'll go that way.

BTW, now that my case has proper legs, they are like 4 times. taller than the cheap plastic things that came with the case, my PSU doesn't scream any longer when under load. :D
I had them on a hi-end turntable which has been replaced.
It is nice to recycle old stuff, and I think they even look cool.

Yeah, I'm happy!
Now I gotta get out of here and get in the water and catch some sun to compensate for the hours I spent tweaking under the hood.

BTW, the other day you mentioned that you were going to OC your daughter's 1055t.
Maybe you can help me out: Right now I have my 8120 at 4.3K and 1.404V. Temps are nice and low, peaks at 50 C after and hour or so of prime95 blend. Memory is at 1866 10,11,10,27 (1600 CL9 stock).
I would like to take the CPU to 4.5K, but been unable to get stable past 4.3 so far. Tried rising the voltage and defaulting mem to stock. I'm doing multiplier and voltage only so far. The rest of the stuff is far too cryptic for me at this stage. Anything beyond 4.3K I fail p95 within a couple of minutes.
Any advice?
