Hi Linnemeyerhere, or can I call you Linne? Not sure what you're suggesting but I'd love to know. The only real problem with the Pi, apart from its boot time, is getting a decent display under Raspbian on a modern monitor.
Amazes me, I bought a state-of-the art Packard Bell 14 years ago: 700MHz Pentium, 256Mb Ram, 128Mb GPU; this little beauty has that and more!

Amazing it really is. It won't be replacing my i7 anytime soon but it's much lighter and tiny !

Running XMBC, you'd be amazed. I'll make a short video of the output and post soon.
I'm also told that the Pi can be run as a server, that's whole new territory for me, but it's something to experiment with on these cold London evenings.

The speakers arrived this morning so my new multimedia centre is complete. Must get the cabling sorted tho'

This reminds me of the new mini computers that they were explaining on tek syndicate or was it Erich from the Motherboards .org very Interesting it has everything you need soldered to the board sweetness mini form factor

Yea it's a Rig if it's what I think it Is this is a very cheap solution to having a desktop I think you said somewhere round 150.00 that was the same price that was suggested

Not yet, the fans are a bit of a problem.

Exactly. Just installed UBMC - makes the Pi a great media centre.

My project for this week is to replace the perspex panel on my case. I have never liked the way the view is obscured by the mountings for 2 fans on the side panel. It ruins the look and I have no plans to put any fans there.

First pic with the panel in, 2nd pic with it removed. I will be taking the panel somewhere tomorrow to see if they can make me a new one that is totally clear.

Make your own Paul. You may not be able to get the angled edge as nice as original but it would be a lot cheaper.

I know what your saying Gary, but by the time I have bought a sheet and a decent saw to cut it with it might cost as much as getting a bit done somewhere. There is a glass place just a few units down the road from where I work, I am pretty sure they deal with perspex too, so I will call in and see what they say. It needs to have the angled edge put on otherwise the original grubs won't be long enough to hold it in place.

Edit: What I mean by the angled edge is the whole thing has an angle all the way round which fits inside the opening. Like a 30 degree or something all round the whole edge.

See what I mean in the pic. Without that edge it will not sit far enough inside the case for the original grubs to hold it in place.
