Now that is real beauty

So i have spent more money A new case - CM Storm Stryker, a new power supply - Corsair AX860, a new CPU cooler - Gelid GX-7, and a new external hard drive - Toshiba 3tb Store-E.

Took everything out my old case and set up ready to install the new cooler, and compared the size of the case to the box of my new one......

After wards i installed the cooler plugged everything in to start the benching to make sure all was running smoothly

After that came the process of putting all of the components in to the case and make sure the cables are nice and tidy

However becasue the case is soooo big and heavy i had to improvise a free standing workstation to work around it freely

All went smoothly and is now running like a dream

And then at 1 o'clock in the morning i decided it was time for bed, but had to spend 20 minutes making space for sleep

Great job with a fantastic case. Man you went from a small mid tower to a huge full tower and it really is a good case to build in and handling it with that handle will come in very handy...lol. Having built one of my rigs in this very case I'm proud to see another shining example built here......Nice!

Paint Job Part 2

Very nice rig Apprentice5....got also that Gelid GX-7 w/ Two Gelid PL Blue on Push/Pull, nothing to complain so far since mounted ten month ago.


So on my side designed a little for my case lately...

Made stencils and cut them ready to be painted, based on the "Thermaltake" round logo (not easy as the solar flammes logo are not regular at all!!) and the dragon logo from "Tt eSports" by Thermaltake.

Used the same spray Fluorescent Blue with a grey undercoat spray underneath. Degreased with alcohol and worked in two time the design, that was the manner of the stencils.

Seeing the size of the PC Case, the design is pretty big!!

After all of that applied, i cleaned a with thinner around the overage to make it tidy.

You can try at your own risk!!

The first spray is an undercoat as stated and the second can be acrylic or others since the undercoat will accept whatsoever is. The case needs to be degreased well for the undercoat to stick well, no need to sand for such design. Respect drying time for the multiple coats.

Stencils can be cut on a medium/thick weight paper, but you'll have to used a spray glue successive fixtures. And a very sharp tool cutter!

I made myself stencils several years ago to put a multi-layer camo on the stock of my rifle, and I can tell you that crap was NOT easy. Great work NoN!

I'm using aswell for some light effects enhancement a permanent ink Uni Posca Metallic blue w/ Ultra fine Round Tip. Only on very small parts of the logo design.

PS: I wanted first for a proper paint job to do it with screen....but for only one piece (too much hassle!).

I've worked in painted screen some years too (back in me twenty's)..

Fantastic work NoN and Apprentice!

Here's my first peeks at the Haswell setup.
The work area to get it running for testing, so far everything works well. I wasn't paying attention, this ASUS Z87 Deluxe has no DVI or VGA connector, only HDMI and Display Port, so I scrounged up an old GeForce 8800 to plug in the monitor, it's old too, only VGA.
Don't use the Intel stock cooler.




First WEI, only 8GB RAM, old 40GB SATA 150Mbs drive.


The I5-4670K throttles down to 800MHz. :shock: Oh, ASUS has their own skinned CPUz on the support DVD.



With my Sandy i5-2550K I could never get the RAM past the stock frequency of 2133, with Haswell I got it to 2200 with no volt nor timing changes, not much, but a step in the right direction.





With the silly stock cooler here are my temps, after 5-7 seconds. I shut it down quickly. Prime can run a bit longer, 15 seconds or so to get to the same temp.




Seems to be a decent Speed (GFlops) though.

Yup, My Sandy run hot with the Intel cooler, but only after a full IBT run.

Lookin good Gary! Looks like the temps are really consistent though, which is a sign of a good CPU.

Also, I'd like to have that Asus branded CPU-Z
