I have the exact same OptiPlex 755 as Paul Thurrott. Purely confidence. Only mine has 4 GB of RAM, not 8.

Very Nice PC. I do like that case.

I have a question (again) about RAM..... DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)

I was looking at the Corsair Dominator Series... But it's not for me. Too pricey. I don't do much on my PC besides play BF2/AIM/Surfing/Porn.

Any advice??

Will be going into a eVGA 750i FTW Motherboard

Found a couple different brands. GSkill, OCZ, and Corsair (non-dominator series)

GSkill ($54.99):

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

GSkill ($59.99)

Newegg.com - G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

OCZ ($46.99):

Newegg.com - OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

Nice. Blue-Ray! WOOT

It only reads blu-ray though...

Anyway, BD-R are too expensive yet to consider buying a blu-ray burner.

BD - Read only
DVD - Burn/Read
CD - Burn/Read

Only a 5.1 to get now.

96accord,

For what you do, I would just go for the least expensive one. I'd say ddr2-800 wouldnt be too bad for it. If you don't need RAM in a hurry, keep watching slickdeals, newegg and woot. Some crazy deal may pop up. I got 4gb gskill ddr2-800 for free with my case purchase :p

Have you installed the 750i ftw? How you liking that noise?

Finally got off my lazy ass to take some pics. Behold! My homemade, jack-o-all-trades PC+theater version 1.5! Ver1.0 was basically the same with the Antec 300 case. This is the ABS Monolith case with the front door thrown away.

Sound system: onboard chip toslinked to Onkyo SR-506 receiver, 4x Energy C-100 & Energy C-C50 center for speakers. Yep, that big black box next to the receiver in the 5th pic is a subwoofer, the Elemental Designs A2-250.

Please excuse the terribad furniture and the use of speaker boxes as stands for receiver and speaker. I'm too chea... I mean environmental friendly to buy real stands! ^_^

Thanks for the info. I was purchasing a internal laptop harddrive for a customer's laptop that I am working on off of newegg so I hurried up and purchased the Corsair Dominators Series 2x2gb ram DDR2 1066. I figured what the hell.

The 750i is not installed yet. I am going to wait for the memory to come and do it all together. I understand that I can still install the board and then just install the memory when it comes in but NewEgg is quick and I will install the mobo and ram at the same time.

I want to get (2) more 120mm case fans tho.

Thanks for the info. I decided on the Corsair DDR2 1066.

-Jeff

Hello all.

I just finished adding a Tuniq Tower 120 to my system; the rest of the system specs can be viewed at the bottom left of this post at "My System Specs".

IMG_0273.JPG IMG_0276.JPG

That's the the ASUS HSF I took off in the background.

IMG_0280.JPG IMG_0278.JPG

The roung knob on the front is the Tuniq fan speed control, I put it on the front as I didn't like the idea of having to reaching around back of the machine to adjust the fan speed (it was made to go into an expansion slot).
