Not bragging by any means, but I get identical temps with air. I have no experience with water cooling but am curious, is it possible to get temps in the mid 20's (idle) and high 30's (load) with liquid?

This may take some explaining:

#1: 22" Acer mounted on an Ergotron Neo-Flex, OEM Keyboard & Mouse, X-540 Speakers

#2: Macbook Pro Unibody 17", 3 x External HD

#3: Logitch G-15, Logitech G-9, SB X-FI 5.1 USB

The long and short of it is this: I swing my monitor back and forth when I want to lay down to watch movies and such and when I want to play games/work. Yes, I know I have a laptop, but I enjoy the larger monitor for when I'm at home.

Is that the whole setup? No big tank hiding behind your case...? Wow... I've always avoided water cooling because it makes a computer a mission to move around, and I like going off to a good LAN session every now and then.. If I may ask, what did that cooler set you back?

Awesome.. Thanks for the link. I didn't actually know about that website until now. :D

Not bragging by any means, but I get identical temps with air....
Me too..
Without getting too technical, there are various advantages using water cooling instead of air. The most notible is that instead of having air blown over a heatsink directly over the CPU and then distributed around inside the case, the heat is drawn away from the CPU through the water and straight out the case.

So your CPU may be the same temp, but the ambient case temperature will be lower with water cooling, which means less strain on GPU and / or Northbridge coolers.

Edit: At the same time though, I must admit that with a decent case design and fan layout, this isn't really a problem these days... But the end result with water cooling is that you don't need as many fans to get the same temps.

Lol... I ended up removing the perspex from my side panel so I could have better airflow without losing a fan. Two graphics cards made the air temp in my case almost double. :sarc: But it doesn't have very good airflow to begin with, so water cooling makes more sense for me. It's just cost and fear of the unknown that's been stopping me so far... The idea of water pipes looping through the inside of my precious computer case still freaks me out, but I think I may need to do that sometime...

From my experience with servers and such...typically removing the side panel does more harm than good when it comes to cooling. Screws up the air flow within the case since it doesn't provide a solid air channel of air coming in from one area and making it's way out through another single area.

I agree unless the ambient room temp is pretty cool.

For the most part, that is true... But if you have a case that has really bad airflow (such as mine), then it's actually better to take the side panel off. Lol...

I brought my tower to work today to update antivirus and all that jazz (no internet at home), so I just took a few pics of what it looks like. I just noticed one of the pics came out a bit blurry, sorry about that..

That's what I meant by I removed the perspex from the side panel, and added extra fans. Lol. I have a case mod idea (along with a Zalman CNPS-9700 CPU cooler), which I will hopefully be able to do in the next month or two, so I'll put up new pics then, but for now this is what I have (I really want a modular PSU):

Well in my case (pun intended :p) it certainly did not do more harm than good. My temps are great and touching the open side I can feel how cold it is. Nothing inside even feels warm at all.

Red is the cpu and green is the hdd.
