I'm not sure what the registration is for either other than support.

Either way Softpedia is the easiest.

It looks a bit slower than mine, but then it is still pretty fast. I paid $60 at Newegg for my 16GB. I thought that was expensive, but wanted the fastest for 'Windows 8 on the go'.

Here's my 64 GBs Voyager GT USB 3.0 benchmark, FAT32 formatted:



It does slap around HDDs, but doesn't even come close to SATA 2.0 SSDs.

Windows 7 cannot format larger than 32 GBs drives with FAT32 file system, called eFAT in MS terminology. This is a Microsoft imposed formatting limitation, it can mount FAT32 partitions upto around 2 TBs. The Linux Live CD, or iMAC have no such formatting limitation. Nice going MS, forcing me to download disk formatting utility just to format a flashdrive...

Both are FAT32.
This CrystalDiskMark froze the whole machine wile doing the USB 2 pendrive in the USB 3 slot. It would not even reboot, I had to do a hard shutdown. Think I'll quit using that one.

I just upgraded the firmware in my OCZ Vertex 4 SSD. Made a big difference. The original firmware was 1.3 (what the SSD came with) and it has been updated to 1.5. Ignore the different drive letters, that was because I had to reinstall the drive from an Acronis Backup and it was assigned a different drive letter in Windows 7. The drive is my Win 8 OS drive.

My Intel SSD (my Win 7 OS drive) is also included.

That made a pretty good difference Fireberd. I know there are others with a Vertex 4, if they are having issues with their speeds, they might want to look into a firmware upgrade too.

Thankfully mine came with version 1.5, but I was ready to update before it arrived.

My OCZ Vertex 4 was two firmware updates behind. I had to do it in five steps, (1) do a complete backup to a separate hard drive using Acronis as the firmware wipes out any data. (2) Update from 1.3 to 1.4 and then power down the PC and restart (power cycle the SSD as OCZ calls it), (3) do the update from 1.4 to 1.5 and power down the PC and restart again. (5) restore the drive (Win 8) from the Acronis backup.

In order to simplify the landscape, we're going to omit brand names for those vendors leveraging SandForce. There are simply too many to list. At a given capacity, performance breaks down based on memory type, and this is their order of performance, from highest to lowest.

We're making an exception with Intel's SSD 330 because it's special case of a SandForce-based SSD that runs with reduced performance specs.

Honestly, after a certain speed level the differences are just not perceptible.It becomes a game of benches and stats.

Yeah, I have also noticed a slight degradation of the numbers from my OCZ Vertex III, which is a couple of years old now. Performance wise, Windows 7 seems to run just like always.
