That's ONE example of something wrong. I had 2 Intel 520 SSD's in a row go bad while others were just fine. No manufacturer has a flawless record.

OK, these are just after updating success on my AMD SATA Controller driver update from the standard one, and full reboots afterwards: [fresh 7 Ultimate install in general]

Both 128 GIG SSD versions: [paid about the same for each sadly, maybe a year apart at most.]

Samsung drive clearly makes the Adata look rather sad, but way I am using, it's more than adequate.

My lags HD wise are the other SATA drives coming out of parking slumber, but minor annoyance that is kind of expected and needed or they wouldn't last nearly as long.

Every utility I run is on either of the 2 SSD's no exceptions.

I had heard the Intel 520s were trouble, fortunately researched before buying, more heavily this time, so I got the 2nd best this time performance wise in the Samsung, very close any way so not much of a sacrifice.

That is still a bit expensive. Check the Newegg sales. Get the daily feed from Newegg. And they have free shipping too.

Make sure you have a 6GB port on your mobo. Else you cannot take advantage of the full speed of the Vector. In that case a cheaper SSD would do.

My laptop doesn't have 6GB port, but if I want to use it in another computer in the future, that is why I was going to buy it. With the price being nearly $300 quite high.

I am not sure whether that is a good strategy. The SSD prices drop daily and the day you want to move the Vector to another system, the price may be a lot lower. It might be better if you bought a cheaper 3GB SSD for the laptop now and revisited the Vector question later. -- At least something to consider.

Hum the cheapest 256 I can get out here is the SanDisk Ultra Plus 256GB @ $185 and the Samsung 840 Series 250GB @ $185 followed closely by the SanDisk Extreme Solid State Drive 240GB @ $219 the rest are all pushing $260 or thereabouts so I don't know about the falling prices though mind mind you our dollar has slumped

I have used the 120GB SanDisk Extreme and it is not bad the OCZ my supplier is not carrying them anymore so have no comparison. I thought they were not as good as they were cracked up to be??

It will depend on the timeframe. If you want to use the Vector in a 6GB system one or two years from now, then I would not buy it today because by that time it will be cheaper and there will be other options. The laptop with a 3GB bus could very well live with a cheaper SSD. This is a good option. I own a Mushkin SSD and it works great.

Six of one, half dozen of the other. You won't be able to tell a nickels worth of difference between them. I would buy whichever one you can get for the best deal to be honest.
