BTW, when I got the "new" SSD it already had the 070H on it. I think it would brick it if I tried reverting, it works fine.

I reverted to 309 without issues BUT let the reverter beware!!!!!!
It appears the moral is that Crucial is not the gem it was once thought.

Garuda, you may get a boost if that board can use the Intel SATA drivers, iastor.sys.

Gary, I'm still undecided about putting the workstation online for a driver scan. And I'm not all that familiar with drivers. Are you suggesting that the Intel iastor.sys driver should replace the Marvell drivers and/or the C602 chipset drivers, or just added to the mix?

Recently I downloaded, xfer'd, and installed the latest Marvell SATA drivers and the Intel drivers for the C602 chipset on this Asus board (most recent from Asus website). And I also don't yet know much about the new C602 chipset used on this server board.

Below are screenshots from my sys32 driver folder and from Asus Updates installed. I'm not sure if the highlighted drivers installed now might supersede the iastor.sys driver you mention here, or simply be the wrong drivers and iastor.sys might be better.

Yes garuda it appears the Intel SATA driver, iastor, is indeed installed. It is likely you don't have the SSD plugged into an Intel SATA port. Usually the Intel chipset will control 2 of the SATA ports and Marvell or another 3rd party the others.
In Disk Management does the SSD show as disk 0?

Gary, I hope I didn’t mislead you, regarding your attempt to help me improve my performance. If I understand from your inquiry about disk 0, I’m assuming you are referring to the boot C-drive. But in this thread here, I was introducing a PCIe SATA expansion card I just purchased and wanted to share my discover in the performance comparison (SATA vs PCIe SATA) with anyone on this forum interested in this PCIe Card expansion for their system. But it doesn’t involve the C-drive; I just needed more SATA ports for drive expansion in my PC case, and happened to buy a SIIG card. These SSDs I compared here were on random available 6G ports, but not yet sure whether they were on native Intel or 3rd party Marvell.

And you may have assumed it was my boot drive, hence your suggestion for C-drive improvement with the iastor.sys driver. Sorry if I mislead you. However, you made me think about my C-drive performance some more. That is, I can’t remember if I put my C-drive (disk0, Intel 520-series 240GB) on the Intel port or the Marvell port; and also this begs the question, is one port faster than another based on its driver. Do we know if one (6Gb/s) port is faster than the other? Native Intel vs Marvell? If so, I want to put my fastest SSDs on the faster ports -- especially the two cache drives; and of course the C-drive. Let me know what you think.

Because I plan to rewire all those SATA ports/SSDs over again --- (identifying specific Marv vs Intel; and 3G vs 6G ports) --- so I can label each cable and match it to the port IDs along with the SSD serial#s/makes. So when I get these system messages about certain drives, I can distinguish exactly which drives the system is referring to. So I’m glad you brought this up, even if we may have been talking about different SSDs/ports.

Yup Mike, I was mistaken on the drive arrangement, you didn't mislead me, I just forgot it was mounted on the SIIG SATA card.

I once was advised to uninstall my Intel SATA driver due to a BSOD, it wasn't the problem though. While I ran the SSD on a msahci (w7) SATA driver my AS SSD score dropped 2/3. I didn't really notice any change....but I like the best score.

Yes I would put the fastest drive on the fastest port. If you have 2 Intel ports use them for your C;\ and main storage drive.

Everything is through the roof but the read access time appears ok but not that great. I wonder what is going on here.

It may have something to do with the Primo Cache system, it shouldn't affect anything though.

Your sys specs on post say you have 8G RAM. If the Primo-cache uses RAM swap (similar to RamDrive technology), does Primo lock-down a certain amount of RAM making it inaccessible to system for other functions? If so, have you noticed what % of RAM is locked? Those big numbers on AS-SSD suggest that there's a lot going on in the RAM.

Or am I way off base on the Primo proc system? I didn't yet read all the particulars on Primo.
