Better than my laptop lol. I wish I had my powerhouse gaming laptop running, I am curious to see what 7 thinks of it. I was mid 5's with Vista.

Well this is from my studio 1555, so the numbers are low, but still above average.
Gotta love the way that 128mb graphics card gets pushed up to 1759mb with 64 bit OS and 4GB RAM.

Hi, I'm not an expert by any means, but in other posts including my own there are usually similar scores for "Desktop Performance For Windows Aero" And the one for "3D business and gaming graphics performance".
I see you have a Radeon HD 4200 series graphics card, If you have the ATI Catalyst drivers installed, (Latest versions here: ATI Radeon), Then by right clicking on your Desktop and selecting the ATI Catalyst Control Center, Then choosing 3D Graphics/ALL you can choose Performance rather than Quality, Which should give your scores for Graphics a boost if you re-run the WEI test.
I could be wrong about this, and I am sure someone will point this out if I am.
Hope this helps.

I did the the performance things that it says to do by taking all the animations and stuff off on your computer taking the clear borders all that stuff. It brought my WEI down by .4 points.

Hi, the tweak I was explaining was only to do with ATI Catalyst interface. I have read that turning off those settings you mentioned in Windows can speed up the PC, But as WEI rates Graphics for Aero, If you disable those settings it may affect WEI scores as it rates Windows Aero. Just a thought....

I know there is a post on here somewhere that says if you disable write cacheing it will increase your score. Some had problems with this in vista and this seemed to work. If you now have a lower HDD score maybe this can help.

NO it did not bring down my graphics. It brought down my hard disk data transfer.
I know there is a post on here somewhere that says if you disable write cacheing it will increase your score. Some had problems with this in vista and this seemed to work. If you now have a lower HDD score maybe this can help.
Where do I disable write cacheing?

Here is my updated Vaio Laptop score just after I installed a OCZ Vertex2 240gb SSD. My old score was a 5.9 with a 5,400 rpm HDD.

Yes this thing is fast!:D This is my first SSD so it's really a whole new experience. I made sure to do a clean Win 7 install on my Vaio laptop and not just do a regular restore with my Vaio recovery discs which adds all the extra bloatware. The day before I bought the drive off of newegg I was shopping at Bestbuy and was seriously considering getting the 500 gb seagate momentus xt drive. I am glad I went with the Vertex 2 though even though it ain't cheap. My i7 laptop is finally not bottlenecked by that 5,400 rpm drive.

Just wondering. Does anybody know if Readyboost has any effect on WEI? I have a NTFS USB 16GB Flash Drive with 6.5GB Available space for Readyboost. Is it worth using it when not using for Data Transport?
I also have a 128GB Kingston DT200 which is ex-fat, It doesn't seem to be Readyboost compatible and have been trying to convert to NTFS but with no luck. It converts to Fat32 but after drive gets to a certain fullness it corrupts the data and loads of Chinese folders and files appear. I could easy put 50GB of that drive up for readyboost if it goes NTFS and if it is worth it.
Would be interested of your thoughts.
I only ask on this thread because the USB flash drives are SSD's of sorts, I know that the 128GB cannot be used as a OS disk but could it help?

If you mean that your USB flash drive has 1/2 of a GB then no it is not worth using at all. But if you mean it has 5GB's then yes it will help. Ready boost is not as effective as adding regular RAM to your system. But it does help yes. So anything you can get will help. The only thing that RAM (Ready boost also) helps with is loading & running programs that is it. It does not help online or anything like that. It only helps run programs better. If you are not already using all of your RAM when you do things then you probably should not worry about it. But then again I use my ready boost also. I never really need to. But because I have it I do. Just in case it will always be there. About your Kingston problem. I can not help you. But I hope what I do know helps.
