Nope. The only way to get above 5.9 is to move to SSD.

You did well to run Windows 7 on this, I find it really slows down less powerful systems after a while and they end up back on XP.

DELL Dimension 5000
Pentium 4 HT 3.0GHz
4 x 1GB DDR2 RAM
ASUS EAH4670 HDMI 512MB
Seagate Barracuda 1TB SATA HDD
550w PSU

This build doesn't support Aero properly, has limited gaming ability, & is now used purely for downloading and running a printer for home network.

Although Microsoft states Minimum System Requirements for Windows 7 are:

Been running the WEI a lot lately and it has brought the SSD score down but the system as never felt faster and the drive score will climb in time. More ram on it's way and a new R5770 Hawk GPU so these number will change again soon but it's all good.

soo.. let me get this right wei is dependent on the response or seek time of a hdd not the read and write time?.... that's gay

Someone here can explain exactly why this happens, but my SSD drive score 7.7 but will fluctuate with the amount of benchmarks run against it. This fact starts to freak people out as if changes they made could have made the differences so they keep running benches and the scores continue to fall. Their system and drive is still snappy but the benchmark scores override all. Then they leave well enough alone for a few days and run the benchmark and just like that it's back up.

thank you for welcoming me anyways ssds are way to expensive for a broke college student atm... I also heard over time ssds will lose speed until it gets to an equilibrium state which is still faster than raided hdds anyone know if it's true?

They do degrade over time but near factory performance can be regained by performing a secure erase. Also the controllers that support trim/garbage collection will self heal to stay at optimal performance.

It is not trim. It is garbage collection in sandforce drives. Trim doesn't need time to recover speed.

I think response/seek time is a factor as well as read/write speeds, it just means that the faster response/seek times on an SSD are much higher so it scores higher in WEI.

Here's the new WEI after the addition of a MSI R5770 Hawk GPU over the GTX260 and one more stick of ram. The closeness to the last benchmark WEI proves the SSD dropping but it will climb back in a day or two to it's 7.7 mark no worries! The system is amazingly quick and to say I'm happy is an understatement. The extra 6 pin connector just staring at me from inside the case is saying hook me up man hook me up! Stay tuned as in a month or so I'll try to find a even better price on the 2nd 5770 for Crossfiring!

Running benchmarks too often on an SSD will speed up performance degradation. The only way to get speeds back is to perform a secure erase.

I just ordered my Phenom X6 1100T. Should be installed in a few days. This is just a post of my system before the upgrade as a comparison for anyone thinking of upgrading to this CPU.
