All you need to do now Steve is to OC that i5 to get the perfect 7.9.

I don't think that he can reach 7.9 with that cpu. The mainly reason is the 4cores. I think that the 4 cores are not enough to get 7.9.

One member on one Macedonian forum have i7 2600k oc'd @5GHz, and he have 7.9 cpu score.

That does surprise me Stalker, I wander if it was genuine as I ran my 2600k at 5.1ghz and Jeepman on here ran his higher than that iirc and we both still got 7.8

OK, let me rephrase my statement. The only time I have ever seen a CPU get a legitimate 7.9 WEI score, they were pouring liquid Nitrogen in it. I've seen how to hack the scores and have seen some hacked scores. I believe they are stored as an XML file and you just have to alter the XML file.

I was replying to Gary's post above yours Steve, you hadn't posted yet. I agree, and yes, it even tells you what file, and what to change. A Guy

You guys make me laugh. Too much emphasis is attached to all those nums and most people do not understand what they really mean and what the significance for their particular situation is. It is the same with the SSD measurements where people get all exited about a read speed of 400MB/sec at a very large blocksize where in fact they never see that blocksize.

So let the nums be nums and enjoy your system as is. If it runs without error, then are are a lot ahead of the game.

Wolfgang, I think they understand. But the numbers are also indicitive of relative performance, and people always want to one up the next guy. I have a 6.9 and it will likely never go any higher as it is my GPU, and I don't game. It does what I need, so it stays 6.9, lol. A Guy

Yeah Bill, we always want to keep up with the Jones next door. My fastest system for normal work (except video encoding) is actually a laptop with a WEI of 5.8 (because of the graphics). But that thing is lightning fast with an i5 and a Vertex. That taught me not to put too much importance on the nums.

It was ran at 5.4ghz and got 7.8 still....sorry but no way it was done at 5ghz.
