A quick question Bob, I know you said that when you installed Windows you only had the SSD connected. But since then have you connected a regular HDD up? I am wandering if for whatever reason WEI is reading and scoring for the regular HDD instead of the SSD? As 5.9 score is always what 99% of regular HDD's score.

Edit: A quick way to test it (assuming you do have a HDD connected) would be to disconnect it, and re-run WEI.

Ah, way ahead of you on this one. Already tried it and no difference.

After the clean install I did connect the HDD. I have it set to turn off 5 min. after idle I believe it's called.
I was reading last night on the OCZ forums and this seems to be a common problem.
I haven't read far enough into the site to determine if in fact there is somewhat of a fix. I did notice a lot of problems occurred after a firmware update though.

Vertex3 and Vertex 3.20

Maybe this particular drive was a problem child since it was born. I'm kinda afraid it might poop out at the wrong time, I don't know.

So, at this point I'm still open to suggestions.

I was looking on the Asus support site for your motherboard and there are drivers available for Sata on there, you will need to navigate to them yourself, but there is one for AMD AHCI and one for the Asmedia sata controller. It might be worth downloading and installing them just in case.

No, I do not. As I said above there have been a lot of problems after people update the firmware, including
making a brick out of it.

Yes, I did install the MB drivers but can't remember if there was a update at the time. If there was I'm sure I put it in.
How do I find out what driver versions I have now ?
Which one do I download from the site, just the newest one for AHCI ?
I have Asmedia sata controller installed. This is the info I found for it.

Yeah I would just download the latest AHCI drivers.

It properly won't make any difference but it's worth a shot. I am pretty much out of Idea's.

I do know that an SSD should not score 5.9 though and it's annoying me why yours is.

I am getting the feeling there is nothing wrong with your SSD and it is performing correctly. I think there is just some kind of issue with WEI not reading the drive correctly.

Here is a screen shot of an old Crucial M4 64gb SSD I have in an AMD system in my lounge. The M4 only has 6GB of free space on it, it scores around the same as you in AS SSD test yet mine scores 7.9 in WEI.

If the PC is performing fine then I would just try and forget about it Bob, it is only a score after all.

Yes, the PC is running just fine. It has been, with the exception of the GPU, which has been corrected.

Well that is a tough decision. I would update the driver.

I agree with Dude, update the driver, if it is the same one, it shouldn't make any difference. You're running 1.3.4.0 if there is a later one than that get it, if not, install it over again. Also, see if there are updated chipset drivers. I don't know how to check what you have now, but I don't think it hurts anything to install the same version, if that's the case. Also, on the firmware. Is there a later version than what you have on your SSD, but earlier than the one that causes trouble? If so, update to that.

After that, I'm out of ideas. The figures say that the AMD should be 5-8% below Intel numbers. Try this, open an elevated command prompt and run winsat disk. Post a screenshot please. I think most of us are out of ideas except RMA. OCZ technical support may have some ideas, but you will get better results if you call them on the phone with the test results on the 3 programs suggested. But, the first question they will ask is are you running the latest firmware. If they say update it, tell them only if they are going to replace it if it gets bricked.

Thanks Dude. I was only giving the same advice I would do. Of course, I admit, tech reps normally do not like me. I tend to know more about their products than they do. Plus, an OCZ tech rep is not going to admit they are offering a flawed firmware update.

COMPUTIAC, just one more suggestion and this is stretching it a little. Download all the current motherboard drivers from Asus website and put them on a USB drive or CD. Run sysprep (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/135077-windows-7-installation-transfer-new-computer.html) read the instructions carefully, You should not lose anything, but backup beforehand just in case. It is typically used to transfer an OS to new hardware so what it does is strips out all the drivers and puts you back to very close to a clean install, just with programs installed. Personally, I would use this as a last resort, but I have done it several times and if you follow the directions and read the info and warning parts, it will work perfect.
