As Steve said, What matters most is whether the machine meets your needs or not, not what the numbers are (even though those are definitely not shabby). WEI scores are more for being a benchmark to alert one that performance is falling off.

Agreed, for a laptop an SSD is really the only significant upgrade you can make besides adding more ram if the laptop allows it. Just search around with your laptop model and number and see what others are using as their SSD of choice. Just to make sure everything will work properly Wouldn't hurt to update to the latest bios, if you already haven't done so before installing a new SSD to a laptop.

Well what size were you hoping to get GB wise? You can probably snag a Crucial M500 240GB for 150 dollars if you shop around. Unless you want a TB 2.5 inch, then well yes, the price would be enormous.

You can probably even get away with a 32gb SSD just for the OS and some common apps ie-> open office, anti virus, etc etc, and use an external for data storage.

You can get 120/128GB SSD's for around $100 or less and use the current hard drive as external storage for music, videos, pictures, etc. Hybrid drives will not net you much of a performance gain, at least when compared to an SSD.

Do SSDs produce more heat than my regular 5400rpm drive?
The best value i can get for SSDs in my country (ph) is around $130 on these drives:
1. Vertex 4 SSD Sata3 128gb
2. Corsair Force 3 128gb
3. SanDisk Extreme 120gb

I can only go for 128gb max

It depends on how you use the lappy. If you pretty much do the same things all the time (boot, surf), a SSHD (hybrid) would probably be a good compromise. However, if you tinker with it (like me), it won't help any.
