Shut OFF Backup in Progress

How can I get my pc to shut off backup in progress.
I originally started a backup on a disk and it stopped at 37% for hours, so I aborted the disk and now the icon on the bottom right keeps reading backup in progress.

Try rebooting your computer to force it to stop. If you have trouble doing that in Start Menu, press and hold the computer power button until it boots off.
