Shutdown argument /o missing in cmd

Hi,

I have tried to shutdown using /r /o to open the Advanced Boot Options menu, but /o does not work. When using /?, /o does not appear under the arguments list. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. If more info is needed, please ask.

Jack, I've created a shortcut on the task bar to shut it down, so I don't need to do Start-shutdown. In fact I've replaced Start-shutdown to Start-restart.

:ditto: I have a shutdown shortcut pined to my taskbar so I can shut down with one mouse click. It does a

C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe /s /t 00 You need to know the options to get it to work right. Mine just shuts my PC down. If you want reboot you change the options.

The /o switch wouldn’t be introduced in the Shutdown command until Windows 8, along with the /hybrid option. Windows 10 sees the addition of /fw as well.

If you want the /o switch on Windows 7, perhaps you can snaffle a copy of shutdown.exe from 8 or 10.

According to our tutorials, there’s only one way to enter the Advanced Boot Options menu. Compare with TenForums’ equivalent tutorial.

It's 3 mouse clicks in Windows 10. Click Start button, click Power Icon, click shutdown. Plus the hover move to click each one. Call me lazy if you want, but I like the one movement one click. ;)

"Shutdown" and "Restart" shortcuts can be handy when you are using the Remote Desktop tool. :)

When you are using the Remote Desktop tool, there are no "Shutdown" and/or "Restart" options in the Start Menu on the remote PC.

2015-07-15 Upgraded LM17.1 to LM17.2
Then how would one proceed to shutdown and reboot to the Advanced Boot Options menu in windows 7 without having to press F8 when the PC starts up? Is there any replacement for the /o parameter that is in later versions of windows?

When you are using the Remote Desktop tool, there are no "Shutdown" and/or "Restart" options in the Start Menu on the remote PC.
