Hey. Yesterday I got a game someone I know (but not in contact with) programmed back in 2007 in C++.
When I try running it I get this error message:

supbitch.png

I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.
I tried running it with compatibility settings of Windows XP, but when I did that I didn't get anything... no windows popped up, not even the error.
What can I do to fix this?

thank you.

When I try installing the 2005 redistributables it loads a bit and disappears after it gets to this window and finishes loading it:

I believe so. Do the following to find out if it installed correctly:
1. Click Start Menu
2. Type eventvwr into the Search programs and files box and hit enter
3. Expand Windows Logs -> Click Applications
4. Go through the list for the past ten minutes and see if one of the information level application logs has:
Code:
Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. Product Version: 8.0.50727.42. Product Language: 0. Manufacturer: Microsoft Corporation. Installation success or error status: 0.

Yes, I see it installed correctly. When I tried installing the 2008 it offered me to repair or uninstall, I chose repair. It was "successfully repaired".
When I opened the 2010 installation I got this message:

uiuig.png

after doing all this I tried running the EXE file again and got the same "side-by-side" error. :(

The problem is that the program was compiled as a debug release. You will need to install the full or express version of Visual Studio 2005 for it to run. You can try to install the express version (I'm not sure if your source had express or full, but the express is free, so give it a try): Visual Studio 2005 Express

I actually thought of that as an option.. so I installed it earlier today, and it still doesn't work..

See if you can find DebugMFC:
1. Click Start Menu
2. Click All Programs
3. Click Accessories
4. Click command prompt
5. Type in "dir /s *DebugMFC*" (without quotes) and hit enter

Let it search and see if it finds anything. It should tell you the directory it is in if it does find it.

Yeah, I'm afraid you might need the full version of Visual Studio 2005 to run your program. :(

No problem. If you can get it working on another computer, see if you can copy the folders you need for your computer. Best wishes! :)

Realized I made a mistake in the following (sorry, I'm helping a lot of people on here and trying to finish up a 70-80 page report for my Ph.D. at the moment, so I'm stretched a little thin):
