Yeah I can run it on one, what I want it for is those few games which i can stretch accross them

No kidding! It's one of the perks from having an overkill system. Pity my notebooks can't handle that (of course, they cost less than 1/10th of what I paid for my desktop).

Pretty much all halfway decent cards can handle three streams (support three independent monitors) for most purposes other than hard core gaming. The recent cards can handle up to four streams and the high end ones can also handle serious gaming. Many of the really good cards have three Display Port or miniDisplay Port outputs in addition to an HDMI and a DVI. Of course, 4k will require more graphics power, most likely meaning multiple cards.

My comparatively ancient card (MSI R7850 Twin Frozr II) has one DVI, one HDMI, and two miniDisplayPorts. I'm using the HDMI, one miniDP with a passive HDMI adapter and the MiniDP with an active HDMI adapter. I needed my primary monitor to be HDMI so I could use a powered splitter to split the stream between the monitor and my TV. I used HDMI for the other two monitors to ensure the picture I got on all three monitors were of the same quality. Even though HDMI is limited to 60HZ, that has easily been enough for my purposes, including watching high definition TV. Obviously, gamers would need a more powerful setup but, depending one the size, resolution, and number of monitors, it could be accomplished with a single, high end card (the kind that require the sale of kidney's for the down payment).

I have a 3d Vision Surround system. I used to have GTX480 SLI. With the new card, my 2 displays are connected with DVI. The 3rd one is disconnected at the moment, I need the active DP-dual link DVI for that reason. Or else I can connect the 3rd one with HDMI or DP to whatever for normal Surround, which is connected to TV currently.

Honestly, I would get two GTX 980Ti 's. They run at 98%~ of the performance of a Titan, yet they are half the price.

If you don't need the extra 2Gb VRAM, get the Ti version.

With evga's lack of ability to stock anything I'll most likely get a asus 20th anniversary gold 980,
Numbers are better anyway plus I have a asus board so compatibility should be more likely than not :/

Thrash, So long as you use a board with a X16 PCIe lane, you will have no compatibility issues.

In fact i've never heard of such a thing in the Hardware side, unless you look at AMD / nVidia compatibility issues and those were fixed years ago.

As for EVGAs lack of stock, it's because they have been announced, just not released yet. The expected shipping date is late July / early August.

EVGA has released quite a few new ones,
First the 980 hybrid 650.00
Then Titan x hybrid 1100.00
Then 980ti hybrid 750.00
Problem is amounts are not high enough to keep anything in stock
Possibly to blame is NVidia who knows EVGA has acknowledged manufacturing issues but that was there end not NVidia's but could very well be both ?

But either way gpu is the only item holding me back from firing this bad boy up and see what is up

Did finally just buy a evga 980 hybrid for 599.us from Newegg picking it up at UPS tonight
Settled being this is only the first card for my build 600. is pretty cheap for a back up card
Black Friday... is the real target for an ultimate gpu
Dust should settle by then and so should pricing on other better cards.
