I recently upgraded from Vista to 7 pretty uneventfully. Everything is pretty much working as before except for one, relatively minor but annoying issue. I have IE, currently IE8, set to go to my.msn.com as my home page. Before the upgrade, it would automatically sign me in, so I would see my customized home page. Since the upgrade I am taken to a generic page. I have to click the Sign In link on the upper right, and then the sign in button on the Welcome to Windows Live. My password is saved, so I don't have to fill in anything. I don't sign out when I am done, I just close the browser window as I always used to do. However, even if I immediately reopen the browser window, I will be signed out again.

Any thoughts on how to stay logged in as I used to do with Vista, and XP before that?

Thanks for the help.

Thank you for the suggestions, Joan and Gornot. Joan, I made sure that I am automatically going to the my.msn.com home page, and I am, so that is not the answer. Gornot, I am not positive on how to make sure the browser does not delete my login cookie. I checked settings in Tools, Internet Options, and didn't notice anything, although I am far from expert in this and perhaps I missed it. If you can suggest a specific setting I should check, I would be happy to do so. I did add msn.com to sites listed in the privacy tab, but that did not help.

So I am open to further suggestions as to why, since my upgrade to Win 7 from Vista, opening IE 8 to my.msn, no longer auto logs me in.

Tools/Internet Options/Advanced/Reset (And to be sure your cookies and other personal settings are also deleted, I'd check the box to include personal settings.) Now you will be starting all over with IE so you will login once; make sure to look for anything that says "remember" or something to that effect.
