Simplex for Windows 7 SP1 Professional 76001 build. I have finished making my routine full image backups of both laptops OS and data partitions onto external USB HDDs. I would like to apply the famous Simplex version of Windows Updates. To those of you who have already applied Simplex, what advice, what first steps do you suggest? In the past, I have had various degrees of success and non-success using the normal Windows Updates within Windows 7.

Put them both inside the same folder, then run the update pack.
They will bring Windows 7 SP1 64-bit up to date to August 2021.

For some reason, Simplex installs failed on a third install - BSOD forced a ReStart, and all changes were reverted to pre-Simplex. I have no idea how to troubleshoot this failure.

I always do a clean install of Windows 7 SP1 64-bit before using the most current Simplix update pack.
I have no need for and never use a full image backup.
That may be where you're having an issue.

I tried on both laptops twice more, one regular boot, one safe mode with networking, still ended up with mixed results. No more BSODs, however, one laptop kept doing a rollback, the other one might have gotten further.

My confusion regarding the use of Simplex and Updates.

First, I believe I install whatever version of Windows-7 SP1 I have.
Second, I believe I install the most current version of Simplex.
Third, I am unsure what I should do with the following:

Where do I find these items?
Please help me through this!

Mike:

SIW2 provided you with the necessary download links.

Download and save both of those files inside the same empty folder.

Run the UpdatePack7R2+.exe file.

It will download a UpdatePack7R2-21.10.13.exe file which is 799 MB in size.

When the downloading process is complete, a pop-up will appear and advise you the file was successfully downloaded.

Click "OK".

Run the UpdatePack7R2-21.10.13.exe file.

Follow the instructions that appear.

The entire update process should take about an hour and will involve 3 - 4 restarts.

Disk Cleanup should be the last action that is performed.

Your Windows 7 should now be up to date to October 2021.

Running into the very same problem now with Simplex 202209 version. Worked like a charm on several PCs, this one (Same Hardware and Windows 7 32 Bit install continues to fail.
Command line /S option.
In a loop now.
How did you resolve this?
