Solved Simplix update pack

I have just used a Simplix update pack. It has installed 59 updates. Is this about the right number? I thought there would be more but I'm happy if it has left out telemetry and other useless garbage.

It counts the big roll up as one, so that is why there appear to be fewer.

Sounds OK then.
Just puzzled by when I run Belarc Advisor it shows at the top that my installation is only missing 4 updates. If Simplix has dumped a lot of unnecessary stuff I'd expect Belarc to notice more than 4.

Updates from Microsoft are superseded by well, newer versions.
Win Update gives you all of them from the beginning, then updates with superseded versions.
Simplex & DISM++ don't provide the old version and then replace it with the current version.
M$ simply kept adding to the download list untill it became almost unmanagable then Convenience Rollup, etc.

Snick: which do you prefer for updating, Simplix or Dism++ ?

simplix, both have unique features

Simplix
Key /Reboot to automatically restart if it is needed.
Key /S for a fully silent install with no windows and messages. The case is significant.
Key /Silent for passive installation - you can see the progress, but the installation is fully automatic.
Key /IE11 installs Internet Explorer 11 and its localization (optional).
Key /Temp= allows you to specify a work location (optional).
Key /SmartFix integrates smartfix program by Simplix in the System Restore. File SmartFix.exe must be placed together with the Pack.

Isn't DISM++ used after running sfc /scannow 3 times and rebooting each time?

If after the 3rd run of sfc /scannow doesn't correct the system file integrity violations, then often DISM++ will correct them.

Where would Simplix fit into the mix?

Would DISM++ undo a portion of what Simplix does and vice versa?

Or am I thinking of a different DISM?

There is no benefit from running sfc /scannow more than twice. I don't run it more than once.

DISM++, Microsoft DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) & Simplix Update Pack are not the same though they have similar functions.

DISM++ is a utility for advanced users to clean, slim, backup, update or recover your Windows operating system. Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) is a command-line tool that can be used to service a Windows image or to prepare a Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE) image.

DISM (Deployment Image Servicing and Management) (DISM) is a command-line tool that is used to mount and service Windows images before deployment. You can use DISM image management commands to mount and get information about Windows image (.wim) files or virtual hard disks (VHD). You can also use DISM to capture, split, and otherwise manage .wim files.
You can use DISM to install, uninstall, configure, and update Windows features, packages, drivers, and international settings in a .wim file or VHD using the DISM servicing commands.
DISM commands are used on offline images, but subsets of the DISM commands are also available for servicing a running operating system.
DISM is installed with Windows, and it is also distributed in the Windows Assessment and Deployment Kit (Windows ADK). DISM replaces several deployment tools, including PEimg, Intlcfg, ImageX, and Package Manager.

Simplix UpdatePack enables you to update your live Windows 7 system as well as integrate hotfixes into a Windows 7 distribution.

The Simplix Update Pack 20.6.11 (latest version) tool will install Windows 7 updates in 3 groups.

If I recall correctly, there are about 45 in the first group and about 2 in the second group and about 4 in the third group.

For those who want to run Simplix for the first time.

My suggestion is to set Services - Windows Update - Manual and on WU page set it to Never check.
Then run UpdatePack7R2 to download an up to date Simplix file.
Simplix is a single file (880MB) that contain all updates since Win 7 released up to date. It has all security and non security updates without the trash (telemetry and tracking). Very good.
Then run WU manually to find updates for Office etc and decide witch one to install.

To uninstall the telemetry, run cmd file to uninstall those KB files.
kb_spy.cmd.txt
Rename it as KB_Spy.cmd and run it.

BEFORE I run the Simplix Update Pack 20.6.11 tool, I do the following:
Go into the Services list.
Stop Background Intelligence Transfer Service from running, then change its startup type to Manual.
Stop Windows Defender from running, then change its startup type to Disabled.
Stop Windows Update from running, then change its startup type to Manual.

AFTER the tool is finished and the computer restarts for the last time, I do the following:
Go back into the Services list.
Start Background Intelligence Transfer Service, then change its startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).
Start Windows Update, then change its startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

Load and start the Windows Update app, then allow it to check for updates.

flavallee, Please explain why should someone leave Windows Update service on Automatic if there is no more new updates from M$, it will install some tracking and spying, and will be one more useless service running on the background.
