Sims 3 Medievel Crashing system

Hey,

A buddy of mine is having a problem with the Sims 3 Medievel pack when he plays it, it shuts his computer down. He has a cooler and cleaned his system 5 Days ago. We can not figure it out hes fully updated the game but we still can not figure out why its shutting the computer down. Any help would be great!

EA Games (and especially any Sims at that) are not exactly "laptop*friendly
You could try to tune down the graphics in the options a few notches
Others than that all I can say it runs acceptable (after patching it up to 1.2.3.000001 on the desktops I've checked.
Just to exclude another problem source, try starting the TSM.exe directly and not through the Launcher

try reinstalling it, and be 100% sure its got the latest patch.

alright i'll have him try it and hes playing it on a desktop pc

does he have decent hardware? if not it could be crashing because of that.

Well, if the hardware is too weak then it's to be expected that the game crashes.
Give us his hardware stats. That might shed some light

In the meantime have him delete the various cache files before he starts up Sims Medieval the next time.
They're known to become corrupted at times and then cause a whole lot of trouble.
I made a batch for that...it's just easier

Those files get recreated during program start, so no worries.

Ask him if he has any mods installed (not that there are many available yet)

Do you have the latest update?
The 1.1 patch solved a lot of laptop problems.
Currently we have version 1.2 I thought.

The Sims Medieval is one of those games that were rushed out to customers without it being ready for release.
The 1.2.3 patch mainly fixed the situation of a game crashing/not load up again whenever you reached security level 7 and the additional walls were placed.

but a comp totally shutting down pretty much points to a hardware or driver issue. That's why I suggested lowering the GFX options (since he claims there are no more temperature related problems)
Without further info I can only assume that either the game conflicts with any background process/driver or the hardware is simply not strong enough.

You might want to try
Core Temp
turn on Logging (F4) and start the game to see if the shut down is still caused by temperature spikes.
