SIS GFX 3800 driver needed (Windows 7 32 bit)

SIS GFX 3800 driver needed (Windows 7 32 bit): I have tried google for this, and found only bogus sites which promised such a driver, but offered only adware and other forms of malware. IMHO Google should ban such sites, but that is another question.

Specifically, I have an ITX mainboard (Intel D201GLY2A) and have put together a minimalist W7 32-bit system around it - all is well except for lacking the graphics driver. I know that a Vista driver exists, and that may work also, but I can't find that either. Intel will not supply it on their site, and they no longer support this particular board. Thanks for any help.

maxie - Thanks, but as I said in my previous post, Intel itself does not supply a W7 driver for SIS GFX 3800 on their site. The driver you point out is the same one on the disk that Intel included with the D201GLY2A motherboard. It will not install on Windows 7, and Intel will not offer Window 7 support for D201GLY2A. The SIS site is no better. Other offers of a Windows 7 driver for SIS GFX 3800 have turned out to be bogus sites which try to load you with malware.

I suppose you have tried to Install the Driver in Compatibility Mode

maxie - good point, didn't think of it, I will try that, and get back to you with results + or -! The other drivers did not need it. Meanwhile, the malware trolls even seem to have infected this forum, at least on my machine. I get a popup offering to supply the SIS GFX 3800 driver, but it turns out to be something called "Registry Reviver".

I would do a Scan with Malwarebytes and what other Antivirus you have ...

maxie - point well taken, but this is a fresh install. I will get back to you later on your suggestion to try compatibility mode. It might just be the trick to slip in a reluctant driver install. Even if it doesn't work in this case, seems like a good idea in general.

maxie- I tried your suggestion of using compatibility mode to install the driver - no luck. The installation program stalled out with the arrow endlessly chasing its tail as before. However, I finally was able to install the driver Intel supplied, and what did install worked, after a fashion. This was done by ignoring the installer and going to the "device manager" totem pole and forcing the update on the display adaptor by pointing it to where the Intel driver was expanded. Since this driver was not designed for Windows 7, there might be a better driver somewhere, but at least there is now a choice of resolutions (not, however, anything filling a wide screen). Also, the experience index was only 1.9 for aero and a measly 1.0 for business/gaming. Youtubes are consequently a bit jerky. Otherwise, this cute (ITX form factor) Intel D201GLY2A board might be useful for a truly minimal W7 system. The only slot is a PCI that could be used for a wireless LAN card - just about everything else is available onboard. Hope this helps someone out there.
