I don't have sleep mode available in power options, only hibernate.

When I run
powercfg -a

it complains that the firmware doesn't support S1, S2.
And the driver VGAPNP.sys does not support S3.

When I run Windows 10 on this machine, it sleeps just fine, so I don't think the BIOS is the problem.

So I thought maybe I need updated drivers?
But on the intel site, I can't find win7 drivers for i7-9700. I don't have discrete graphics on this desktop.

Windows device manager says I am using the newest driver for my processor.
I already downloaded and installed the drivers offered for my ASUS mobo.

What to do?

Hello shmu26, welcome to the Forum.

Hibernate is Sleep State S4. Is Hibernate switched on (powercfg /H on)?

I see hibernate as a power option, along with Restart. And when I choose that option, it behaves like Hibernate.

Just now I ran

powercfg /H on
and the command was accepted.
