Solved Sleep problem

[PSCO2007]

I had no trouble putting the computer to sleep until yesterday.
It would go to sleep, but 30 seconds later would wake on its own ( mouse shut down)
I did a rollback to 2 days ago when the problem did not exist - same problem.
I checked all my settings as well as Device Mgr - Network adapter ( unchecked "allow to turn off")

Any advice appreciated.

Have you checked the event logs? That will show the application that ordered the computer to wake up.

Can you tell me how to do that?
Also, I think the mouse is causing the problem.
Can't set it to "allow to turn off"
Box is greyed out.

I also went into options and set Power button to Sleep.
Still wakes up after 10 secs.

Wireless mice do often cause sleep issues like this.

From an ELEVATED (Run as administrator) Command prompt enter these commands and post back the results.

powercfg -lastwake
powercfg -devicequery wake_armed

Here is a command i used to disable MY mouse from waking the PC.

Powercfg -devicedisablewake "HID-compliant mouse (019)"

You will need to replace HID-compliant mouse (019) with the full text for your mouse Microsoft USB ......

Then run powercfg -devicequery wake_armed again to make sure the mouse is not listed.

To access the event logs, hit the Windows key and type event - you'll see Event Viewer in the list. Run that program, and you'll have access to all of the logs. Read through them to find what's causing your computer to wake up.

If i didn't make any typo's this command should disable your wireless keyboard.

I just realized you have 2 keyboards that can wake the PC, but no mice are listed.
You also have the Network device that can wake the PC.

Make sure you have the quote marks at the beginning and end of the device name...

I only have one keyboard (hard wired) and the wireless mouse connected.

I don't do Media Sharing and have no network.

The first command you entered in post #10 was missing the ending double-quote
, and you used MY device name.

I gave you an example of the command, but you should copy your device name(s) from the CMD window, and paste them into Notepad.
Then build your command to disable a device in Notepad.
Then copy the text back into the CMD window and run it.

That's what i do - makes it easier to fix and modify the text if there are errors...

It might be that the listing of two keyboards in that screenshot may be just referencing the wireless dongle as one device and the keyboard itself as a second device.

All ready tried that but it did work for a few hours

After going through solutions. and failing, I was ready to do a restore from a previous Acronis backup.

By accident, I left the mouse untouched for 2 minutes ( I have set power option to sleep at that setting) and the monitor went dark AND the computer went to sleep and stayed there.

The mouse won't wake it, but pushing the power button immediately brings it out of Sleep.
I don't know why I can't set the box in Power Mgmt to turn off since it is grayed out, but at least this irritating problem is solved.

BTW, I tried entering the info with MY mouse in CMD, but kept getting "invalid parameter."

If case you're interested, one possibility for the invalid "parameter issue" is the CMD Buffer size.

Left click the icon in the upper left corner of the CMD window.
Click Properties.
Click the Layout tab.
Increase the Width of the Screen Buffer Size.
The default is 80, you could try 140, or whatever.

Your device name is so long (compared to mine) it might be too long for the std 80 width and wrapping to a 2nd line is an issue.

Increase the width so the powercfg command fits on one line in the CMD window.

I also found out what was causing the problem.
The Wifi adapter wasn't set to "turn off" and this was the only one I was able to "click"

I have no idea how this change happened, but I'm glad to finally put this sucker to bed.
