Solved Slow boot times when a weird mechanical sound occure

Hello Forum!

I have a problem and i would appreciate your help.
Sometimes when i start up my pc there's an unexplainable delay when the Windows 7 logo is created. When this happens, after 30 seconds or so, there's a weird mechanical sound and just after that everything is ok. (Windows boot up)
Here's my system:

Mobo: Asus Sabertooth Z87
CPU: Intel i7 4770K
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 8Gb 2133 Mhz
HDs: 1) Kingston SSD 128GB
2) WD Green 1TB
3) WD Blue 1TB
GPU: Intel GTX 760
Optical Disks: Pioneer Blu-Ray & Samsung DVD-R
PSU: XFX 850W
OS: Windows 7 Ult X64

As you may already figure out, Windows are on my SSD, the other 2 disks are just for storage and programs i don't use very often.
My actions: disable almost everything that started up with windows (except Norton IS 2014), cleaned up disk and registry, unplug for testing almost all my peripherals (like printer) but nothing. Problem still remains.
I think that maybe BR is responsible for the problem but i am not sure. I don't want to throw it away but i am gonna have to if this is the cause. It's like Windows don't recognize the device all the time. As i said before, i don't have always this problem, sometimes Windows start up normaly (15-16 seconds) but when this problem occurs the delay is about 1 minute and a half.
What's going on? Is everyone there has experienced similar problem? Plz help me because this thing started to piss me off!

BR? Do you mean Blue Ray?

Do you have this problem if the Blue Ray device is disconnected? I'm wondering if the slow boot is some sort of drive polling during the boot process.

Describe this "weird mechanical sound". Does it have a rotational component? I assume you don't think it's an electrical whine?

Yes i mean blue ray. I didn't try to disconnect it yet, but this problem is occured sometimes, not all the time. If BR is the cause, shouldn't this delay happened all the time? I want to make sure it's not a software issue before i consider the hardware.

Oh and about the sound. It seems like a device tried to be recognized and 2 brief identical sounds, like rotational component. I will record it. Maybe this will help

Well, intermittent problems are difficult and many problems can be intermittent.

Without specialized tools, the easiest way to trouble shoot is to disconnect the candidates to see if the problem goes away or to substitute another known non-defective component if necessary.

If the noise has a rotational component, you can obviously narrow it down quite a bit.

A device trying to be recognized and a delayed boot makes me wonder about the DVD drives. I have personal experience with DVD drive recognition causing boot delays.

Intermittency might point to a cable connection.

I think that is the case (DVD or Blu Ray) so i will disconnect one plugging the other and see what happens. Blu-Ray model is Pioneer BDR-202BK.

That would seem to indicate you have a bad BR or a bad connection to it (cable or port).

Try another port and see if it shows up in Device Manager. Try another cable if you have one.

Has the BR performed well in the very recent past?

Hey forum i've got some news about my issue.
First i opened the case, unplugged my BR and restarted the machine about 5-6 times. Guess What? Boot times are normal every time! Then i replace my sata cable-problem remains, some times system started up normal some others didn't. Same case when i changed sata port on my motherboard. So i figured out that blu-ray caused the problem i don't know why it has so many issues with my system just right from the beginning. I got rid of it (even though i'd like having a blu-ray on my system) and i installed a regular DVDRW Drive and everything seems to be ok. It's recognized from my system all the time and boot times are fast. But guys i'd like to know. Is there any one there having same issues with that particularly BR Drive? (Pioneer-BDR-202 BK)
