Hi, so i am facing a very annoying issue and that is that my computer is slow. Another issue on top of that is that when i launch a video game that meets my PC specs, it usually minimizes constantly and/or crashes due to "lack of memory".

My PC has 4 GB of RAM and Garry's mod requires 2 GB of RAM. While the game is on i dunt hve anything running except for steam. Any help?

Thanks!

Not surprised a likely born 2009 system is running slow, especially if not maintained. {This includes a lot of details}

Beware the 5700 is a series not an actual card model#, and it came out in 2009, so it's ancient in PC hardware terms, and wasn't a good gaming card in 2009.

Also, Video RAM and PC RAM are too different animals/factors, if it said requires 2 gigs of Video RAM, your video card is likely a 1gig. (I looked up the game, someone claimed it ran on a 16 year old system, so discounting this as highly unlikely)

If I had to guess, you're probably running an old video card driver, that is first place I would be looking.

...and what Layback Bear said to get further guidance....

Check out the specs on Layback and my PCs, details....

Fix-it utilities ? When I see products that claim to repair the registry, optimise and speed up computers - I want to reach for my gun . . .

A quick search found a ton of complaints along the lines of 'Fix-it Utilities broke my pc', 'Waste of money', 'Don't buy this' etc

Fix-It Utilities does include an antivirus program, probably the Viper engine that SystemSuite uses. Only problem I had that got me away from it is the av can't be omitted during install. Company told me to uninstall what I had first and because of the requirement to maintain an Internet connection I was sanely reluctant to do so.

Thanks for the information about Fix-It Utilities.
Never heard of it and I don't remember anybody on the forum using it.

That is two things I have learned in the last 10 min.

Your mention of Kaspersky does confirm the possibility. You can't have 2 or more installed antivirus programs running at the same time, cause conflicts and possible data loss or program issues.

Fix-it utilities says that it requires a separate anti-virus program. So i already had Kaspersky and therefore installed that since fix-it utilities does not have its own built in anti-virus program (at least what it said when i installed it)

Im going to go ahead and point out the obvious. You do realize RAM adds up right? Windows requires 2GBs for its stuff alone. Background processes all add up too, and those are base specs. For instance, Chrome requires 512MBs of ram, but that doesn't mean it can't exceed that. If you open a bunch of tabs, it just keeps going. You need 512 to open a basic page in a single tab. (Mines at 7GBs right now on usage). Extensions add into that. But let's take the basics here:
64 bit windows 2GBs minimum requirement
Kaspersky's 64 bit 2GBs miniumum
Now we've depleted it already, and we haven't added the game yet. Not counting any background processes you may be running like dropbox, google drive, iCloud, spotify, etc. Or if you have any tabs open at all in Chrome. Honestly, I have no idea how this runs at all.

I apologize if this comes off as harsh. Just pointing out the obvious. The system won't always use that much, nor will the game, or chrome. But for standard use, that's what you need, so you already have to be slimming it down to browse a webpage, or play even a flash game.

EDIT: Case and point. Chrome requires 512MB of RAM to run -

That's 6.7GBs, or 6752.18MB...Quite a bit higher than 512MB

Oh ok that makes sense. I honestly think its because i have Kaspersky and Fix-it utilities constantly running. Il see what i can do and if the issue is resolved, i will mark it "Solved".

If the issue is not solved, i will reply back.

Thanks!
