Smartcard reader issues

Assuming you are on Windows 7 and running the Wudf CCID (UMDF) driver for the reader, then your particular card driver is not on Windows update. In that case, you need to install the Smartcard software probably from your IT department.

Having a similar driver issue as most everyone else. When I present a card it asks for a driver; updating driver automatically returns "Driver up to date" message.

Running W7 Enterprise 64bit on a Dell E6400 (built-in reader)

In Device Manager, it is listing two Smart Card Readers; both Microsoft Usbccid Smartcard Reader (WUDF)
Hardware ID:
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5800&REV_0101&MI_01
USB\VID_0A5C&PID_5800&MI_01
* The second device listing Hardware ID ends with MI_02

Compatible IDs:
USB\Class_0b&SubClass_00&Prot_00
USB\Class_0b&SubClass_00
USB\Class_0b

Smart Card listing in Device Manager:
Hardware IDs:
SCFILTER\CID_804f0ca00000030606001c00000000

Auto-update tells me "Windows could not find driver software for your device."

Success Finally

I gave up trying with my SCM331. Picked up a Stanley Global 111 reader and plugged it into my Windows 7 64-bit OS. I had to uninstall ActivClient 6.1 and my certs. I reinstalled ActivClient 6.1 x64 BN39 from AKO, put my certs back on and I was up on AKO and OWA in minutes. Never had to deal with drivers.

Note I went through the same drill on my laptop (also 64-bit) and would never get a PIN prompt. Turns out it was due to having accidently installed my certs twice. I deleted one set of certs and it was resolved.

cheers,
Randy

We have an issue where the smartcard reader on an integrated keyboard or omnikey 3121 reads the card pin but then loops and doesnt let us into the application (RIO). A workaround is to unplug said devices reinsert the card and then it works.
