Smashed HDD and can't load windows 7

I recently dropped my laptop and damaged my hard drive. I have replaced the hard drive and I previously created a system image repair disc but am having no luck in loading it and do not have a original windows disc. What do i do?

Why are you trying to use a system repair disc ?

Do you have a disk image that you want to use to restore windows ?

Everything needed is here to do a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 including the installer for your licensed version. This is a vastly superior install to the HP factory preinstalled Win7 which is larded with bloatware and duplicate utilties which interfere with better versions built into Win7.

As Rich points out you'll need to have a readable Product Key on the COA sticker on bottom or laptop, or else you'll need to order your Recovery Disks per Theog's links.

If the installer you create still won't load, I would suspect there is more damage. It would seem if the drop damaged the drive then other parts will be damaged too.

If the machine was off at the time the drive is probably the most robust piece, if running, the most delicate.
