I purchased a HP BR376AA mouse to replace one with a bad button. Even though this mouse has specific drivers, they really only control the extra buttons and scroll wheel. Pointer speed is still handled by the default Windows mouse driver. I can't get this thing setup to a point I like- it's either too slow to too fast. Leaving "enhanced pointer precision" checked helps some but it's still too slow or too fast, the main problem being that while it's fine if I move the mouse slowly, moving if faster flicks that pointer at a faster speed and moves it farther. This has caused me to accidentally click the X button in Firefox a few times while trying to use the side slider to move up a page because the pointer gets thrown into the corner. Leaving that unchecked makes things worse, since now the mouse moves too slow and too short.
Even playing Doom in two separate source ports, it still feels the same- too slow or too fast, never right where I want it, no matter how much I tweak the individual settings.
Tell me there's some unofficial mouse software that can handle pointer precision better than the default MS drivers.
