Hi Guys,
I am hoping you can help me.
I trade on the FX, I bought some software, which needs to have 40+ micro charts open, windows if you like,
These 40+ micro (3" x 2" ) are laid out in one window, and a profile is created, so anytime, I press the profile(1) the screen opens with these 40+ charts, the problem is, when ever I open these, and only in this window, everything I do is like treacle, if I want to just highlight a chart, over a minute, come away from the profile window and all is great, I have a smaller Profile window with 7 small charts (profile(2)), although a little slow nothing like profile (1).
3gig SDRAM Triple Core 2.20ghz CPU, 50 meg Broadband.
Can it be that I need more SDRAM ?

Thank You
Kind Reagrds

Are experiencing this slowness for the entire system, or only that one single application? If it's global, then try this:

1) Have you in any way adjusted the Windows Swap File? For best results, it should preferably be set to Automatic:
  1. Click the Start Orb:orb:
  2. Right-click on Computer, then select "Properties"
  3. Click "Advanced System Settings" in the left pane
  4. In the "Advanced" tab, "Performance", click "Settings"
  5. In the Performance Options windows, click the "Advanced" tab
  6. Under "Virtual Memory", click "Change"
  7. Make sure than "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives" is checked
  8. Click OK
2) If the slowness is limited to that one application, then either those 40+ micro charts are using up too much memory, or the program isn't 100% compatible with Windows 7...

Try going to the software developers website and check for an update. You never did mention the correct name of the program, so I've not been able to check for you...

Oh, I'm curious now! What IS this piece of software, the name of which you seem intent on withholding from us?

If we knew what it was, we can provide better help...

Not holding it back, just thought I wouldn't be allowed to say,
I have killed the profile (1) (40+charts) and the PC is running ok, does this point to SDRAM?

Again not holding it back, but cant advertise on forums.

Again appreciate your time

I'm sure it would've been ok to mention the name of the program, seeing as I was trying to help isolate a problem. But I'm glad yuo sorted it out.

I sometimes get the same thing with Paint Shop Pro when I open too many images at once, especially when they are high-res shots from a 12 mega pixel camera.

No, I don't think its a memory problem, otherwise you'd be experiencing the slowdowns across the entire system, and quite possibly several BSODs too.

But, SDRAM? How old is the pc you're using? Don't you mean DDR or DDR2? SDRAM is ancient!

I have been watching the resourse meter in Windows, and never has the phyisical memory been close to max.
PC is about 1 yr old, Store Bought, so add 6mths, as for the RAM :D, I heard this so I thought that was it :D :D

I have 3gig anyhow.
Whats left is the Program isn't that great with Win 7
Not much I can do about that though........
SuperADX.................. program name.

Again thank you

Just an update on the problem, thought you might like to know how far we have got along with it.
MetaTrader 4 =Platform for Forex Trading, is written for single core cpu, turns out (we hope) it was using only one of 3 cores,
Resource meter reads 33% CPU, but it sticks is slow, unworkable, but turns out it was maxing out on 1 core.
We Hope :D

Thank you for you interest, and when the markets kick back in, this will be the real test, and will let you know the out-come.

Gary
