Solved Software to creat LP album from multiple music files

Hello everyone,

My files are in FLAC format and each album is saved to my hard drive.
My issue is that I do not want my favourite albums playing as seperate files, I want them to play as produced as some tracks merge into others such as many Jean Michel Jarre albums.
Just about to puchase some bluetooth headphones that also have a 32gig micro card slot so I'll be able to store my 30 favourite albums on this but require each album to be a single file so I'm not searching and tabbing through hundreds of tracks to find what I want to play.
I would also like to add a simple speach file to name the album at the begining so I know I have found the right one. The headphones are also very base boomy so would like the ability to set levels for base, treble and volumes before creating my LP file keeping it in FLAC format.
Found Foobar2000 that seems to fit my needs but unable to save the project in a simple FLAC format file.
Can anyone help with this, thanks.

As I understand it, for a given album that contains 10 songs, you have 10 individual files and what you want is one file containing 10 songs that play in consecutive order, just as if they were on a CD.

Is that correct?

Off the top of my head, the only thing I can think of is to use a program such as Audacity to re-assemble the 10 songs from an album into a single FLAC file. That can be done, but it's tedious and time consuming. Might take 15 or 20 minutes per album. You'd load song 1 from an album into Audacity, then load song 2. Then copy song 2 and paste it right onto the end of song 1, forming 1/2 combined. Then load song 3 and copy and paste it onto the end of 1/2 combined, forming 1/2/3 combined. Then load song 4 and copy and paste it onto the end of 1/2/3 combined. Etc, etc. When you got all 10 songs pasted together, you'd do a "save as" and resave as a new FLAC file that contained all 10 songs.

You could edit the joining point between any two songs as you see fit--removing all silence between the songs, leaving some silence, adding something else between songs, whatever you prefer.

You could also record a speech message and paste it at the beginning of song 1 so you can identify the album.

Audacity includes an equalizer that you could use to modify the songs for bass, treble, and volume level.

You'll need some practice, but it's doable.

Are you willing to take that much time and trouble?

If not, you may have to re-purchase the album in some type of single file format. I have no idea if that's possible.

Or---it may be possible that you can program your playback unit in such a way as to play the songs only in a certain order--album A song 1 followed by album A song 2 and so forth. I'm not sure as I don't use portable players. And I'd guess you don't want to get locked into a rigid playback order.

Yes, that is exactly what I want to do, I to don't really use mp3 players but the headphones will be more for listening in high quality music while by the pool on holiday.
As it accepts a 32gig card I can get about 30 albums on this but don't want to be trawling through tracks to find what I want, if I convert albums to single file that will help.
I think this day and age people listen to tracks rather than albums, I'm old school though.
Tried what you advised earlier today but found it messy so have also got a music editor that allows a simplier process. I wonder why this is not catered for more easily.

What editor did you choose and how much time does it take you to assemble an album of say 12 songs into a single file?

I don't need that capability right now myself, but might in the future, so I'd like to know of the quickest tool. I've got hundreds of hours of experience with Audacity and like it, but it would be relatively clumsy for your type of project.

AVS Audio Editor

I'm having a dabble with AVS Audio Editor, only just started playing with it and footy on in minute so won't be trying more seriously untill tomorrow.

I read on another forum someone asking my issue and they stated this did the trick well and easy so once I try and I'll report back.

I really would like my albums to play just like the vinyl did, listening to th old Genesis (Peter Gabriel), David Bowie and Jean Michell Jarre albums plus may other artists it is just not the same having seperated tracks. Albums should be listened to without any skipping tracks in my opinion and some tracks blend into the next. Listening should be just as the producer meant it.

Don't know your age group but how can you listen to a great album like 'Dark Side Of The Moon' in any other way than as one long playing file.

Bring back the good old records eh! Better sound quality in my opinion, technology not always better. Thats why I'm trying these headpones just ordered from amazon , have a look.

I'm older than you and pretty much everybody and still own thousands of albums. Thousands more 45s and 78s dating back to the 1930s.

But----I haven't listened to them in 10 or more years.

Even 30 or 40 years ago, I was always aggravated by the songs I didn't like in an album. Never heard an album in which I liked every song.

So, I always used to make cassettes of just my favorites for playback purposes.

Today, I've got 25,000 songs on mp3, but they are all single songs, not albums. Kinda the opposite of what you want.

Just a matter of personal preference.

The one concession I have made to the LP format---when I make mp3s, I always add a few seconds of silence at the tail of each song, so that when I play back I get that interval between songs, like how an LP would sound. I know some people want gapless playback, but I could never get used to that.

As promised said I'd get back to you with results.
Ran AVS Audio Editor 7 for the first time and without any prior knowledge produced an album in 4 minutes, I timed myself.

• Imported 1st track
• Clicked open file and option ammend for 2nd track
• This tags it onto the first file
• Clicked open file and ammend for each following track
• When finished saved file and renamed it the album name and saved in option given FLAC format
• 10 tracks total
• Playing time 41 minutes
• File size 419mb

Works perfectly and the quality of FLAC far exceeds MP3 which by the way I would never use as this cuts out so much to reduce file size. I've listended to this particular Bowie album from purchased vinyl 43 years ago so know every sound, instrument and vocal. I didin't mess with any spacing in between tracks it just did this anyway so sounds just like the album should do.

So I'm one happy bloke apart from the football result and thanks for all the advice and help.
