some files not showing in hard drive enclosure

my laptop with windows 7 started giving problems. Example: when I would click on notepad it would say not found.
I restarted, it went into automatic repair, I left it overnight, in the morning it said could not repair.
I ran chdsk -r -f or whatever the command is

problem persists. When I turn on the computer, it goes into automatic repair and will not let me go into windows to access my files.

pressing F8 does not let me go to safe mode. it goes straight to automatic repair.

I removed the hard drive and put it in usb enclosure and connected usb enclosure to windows 10 laptop to back up my files. I noticed some of my files are missing. For example, I know 100% I had 3 Word files in "my documents" but when I view "my documents" in the enclosure, I see only 1 of the Word files. so I cannot confidently erase this hard drive and reinstall windows, knowing that some files may not be backed up.

Why are some files missing and what can I do to recover everything?
is there a way to force windows 7 to skip automatic repair and go to windows as normal?

Are you sure you are looking in the right place for files as accessing from another PC you would expect you wouldn't have permission to access the files as they would be owned by another SID

hi,
yes I am sure because this is a brand new installation of windows 10 so there are no Word files on there.
when I view my windows 7 laptop hard drive I can see ONE of the word files in my documents but I know 100% I had 3 word files in my documents.

and there is a trick that allows you to view your files on the same laptop that crashed. you go to command prompt, notepad, open, and you can view desktop and my documents and everything. in there, again, there is ONE word file.

I dont know what happened to the other 2. They were 100% there before the hard drive crashed.

when i ran chdsk it said 3 times it found some bad sectors and replaced them or something? did it erase my files?

I would say your HDD is dying.
Your first priority is to save all your files under \users\NAME.

Run a Crystal disk info to retrieve SMART diagnostic.

Then run a complete disk test. Use SeaTools.
