Some keys of the keyboard have stopped working

Earlier, the volume keys of my laptop were not working. Thanks for the help, it really helped me a lot.

Now, a similar problem is being faced by my friend. He uses a USB keyboard and suddenly, the "A, S, Z and 1(!)" have stopped working. Is it a hardware or a software problem and what can be the possible solution?

Any help will really be appreciated.

I cannot find a keyboard related software or driver for your laptop. I will research the issue more.

Obviously it just does not want you searching for asus or azuz (which would be changed in google to "did you mean asus?") laptops for a replacement

It is not for my laptop, but its for my friend who uses a PC, the normal one with a separate monitor, laptop, speakers, etc.

Sorry for such description, but I don't know what to call a normal PC.

Try the on-screen keyboard ( in All Programs > Accessories > Ease of Access). If that works correctly, it is a problem with the physical keyboard.

Has your friend ever spilled any liquid on it? Or it might has gone dusty.. Tried a little clean-up? Just in case if the onscreen keyboard works correctly...

I talked to him and he said that he did spill some water over it.

put it in rice? If it's been plugged in with wet exposed connections, it's likely that some keys are shorted.

As liquid said, very likely some keys have shorted. Here's a nice article telling you what to do when when your cell or pc parts have taken a bath. But i think it's too late now and there's no other option than repair or purchasing a new one.. You can use the below article for future refrences..

I have experienced this situation.in my case the keyboard started malfunctioning and finally stopped working and had to replace..Just replace with another keyboard.Try to buy logitech usb keyboard which costs 500-600 Rs
