Check Event Viewer System Log for Disk (usually 11) or NTFS (usually 55) events.

You may have bad blocks on your disk.

Which is why checkdisk should be run....even if eventviewer does not show anything.

Lets try to help the op here instead of being cynical? Checkdisk has been known to correct errors that did not show in eventviewer.

Fair enough - I apologise for being testy but your post read as though I should have been aware of your previous one. You posted while I was typing.

chkdsk can indeed correct errors that down show in EV, but it won't ever force a modern drive to remap pending sectors that fail on write. That's why I don't like chkdsk /r as a first course of action.

I hope the hw failure is not the case, the HD was only few weeks ago on warranty replace. I'll check the disk tomorrow and post the results.
