Hi, sorry if this does not belong here, but as I did not know what category my problem would fall under this section seemed like the best place for it. I am having a problem on a new install without very much installed but the drivers. Sometimes soon after I login after booting up or restarting the PC (I'm not sure about if I log out then log back in) and then clicking in the control panel and I think in the file browser the explorer.exe process/application will freeze and restart itself. In this post I am also going to mention two odd problems I had when using windows update and an event viewer error that I am bringing up in case it helps you figure out my explorer.exe crashing problem. Also, if you know what could have caused those strange windows update problems and the event viewer errors it would be cool as well if you mention info about them, but I am primarily concerned about the somewhat random explorer.exe restarting I am having now.

Here are two event viewer error general tab logs of two of the multiple times it has crashed. This is the primary problem I am concerned with.

I also am seeing warning level events in the event viewer that are related to the Logitech Gaming Software I have installed. Here is one of them. I am not sure if it has anything to do with the crashes or not.

Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Also, when I first opened windows updates and then clicked on a link to add microsoft product updates to be installed in addition to the windows updates the web browser said that it implemented the microsoft update functionality fine into windows update. Windows update then started checking for updates and soon after simply closed the window. I was able to open it back up and start checking again normally, but it was a little strange. I am also not sure if this has anything to do with the explorer.exe crashes.

Another time after installing a lot of windows updates I had windows update check for more updates. It said it found some, and so I clicked on the updates link to see what updates were available, but then it froze and explorer.exe had to restart. I then restarted the computer (choosing not to install those updates) and checked for updates again, and this time it found even more updates than just before. I clicked on the same link to see what updates were available and it worked fine that time. I am also not sure if this has anything to do with the explorer.exe crashes I sometimes have now.

I will try to help.

First off it's unusual for a Windows Explore problem with a new install.
Thank you for filling in your system specs.

Lets start with this tutorial by Brink. Sometimes it solves the problem and sometimes is doesn't. Can't hurt anything and it's free.
Read it completely and just follow the instruction. Let us know the results.

Where did you get the install media for Windows 7?

I did the sfc scan and it did not find any problems. Also, I got the Windows 7 dvd from Amazon I think.
