Installed the game, and it plays fine, but ONLY when my headphones are plugged in. If I try to play the game through my laptop's internal speakers, the game will crash after the first 2 little intro videos. The fault module filename is xaudio2_5.dll. Any ideas why I'm having problems? I mean, it works fine when headphones/external speakers are plugged in...

Thanks, but I already looked at that page beforehand. Nothing helped.

Found what was causing this same error

So I had exactly the same problem, with the same game. Admitedly I hadn't played this in a while but nothing (As far as I knew) had changed.

I tried replacing the DLL file, and running various registry tools (Which I try and avoid like the plague!)

The problem - well I have recently installed a new Asus Xonar Sound card and altered the analog sound field to 4 speakers.....this was the problem.

Changed to 2 speakers and 2 channels and problem solved!
