Actually upgrading is a good opportunity to update all your drivers anyhow.
I would suggest doing that. If you give the exact model of the laptop I'm sure someone here can point you where all your major drivers are.

How did you save the drivers? If it was copying the files from the old install you can't just put them back, they have to be installed using the install exe. If you saved the the downloaded exe files then double clicking and starting the installer should be enough.

Then you install Advanced System Care and use it to restore the drivers.

personally I would just get the appropriate installers and do it that way. If nothing else you know that they are getting installed properly and not the files just stuck back where the program thinks they should go.

Just read several reviews none of them were able to get driver backup to work right.

Basically it backs up the driver files but no one seems to know how to use it or even how to reapply them once they have been backed up.
Since you have a viao it's very likely all the drivers for your system are on one page somewhere laid out on sony's site.
This is by far the best and most reliable way to handle your drivers.
It's the files you'll find there that you will want to back up and keep on a disk for future use.

What are the complete names of the drivers on the CD? What hardware/software do the drivers support? If all you have is files named 1 to 10, they're worthless. Not only can you not identify which number is which driver but neither can you install the drivers using Windows. The drivers need to be identifiable to Windows and you to install each driver.

You can check the documentation of the backup process and see if there's a Restore option or check with the publisher of the software. I can't imagine having a backup function without having a restore function with it. Most drivers have hooks into software and they need to be installed not just loaded to disk. But... I agree that your best option is to download the "install" version of the drivers you need. Keep these files as backup if you wish.
