Can you plz tell me how to set up the fax plz
I have a lexmark printer and would like to set them up

What is the version? Lexmark 730 I have another that is an all in one, Fax, printer and scan. I do not have ink in it this one though. too expensive to buy so I use the Lexmark 730 to do all of my printing.

Is the printer software already installed on the PC? yes

Is there a phone line connected to the printer? I did connect it to the side of my laptop but not being recognized. does not have a spot on the printer to connect phone.

Does the telephone line come straight from the wall to the printer? no doesn't have a spot to plug in phone

Has the telephone line already been tested with a telephone to make sure you have a dial tone on the line? yes no dial tone when plugged into laptop

How old is this printer? not sure exactly how old but its about 5 yrs since I bought it

Are you sure you have the model number correct? yes its a Lexmark 730 (showing in my panel as this to and also on the software it came with. on the machine itself at the top it says Z735 )

Ok, then it is not a model 730, it is a Lexmark Z735 Color Inkjet Printer

Sub Zero has went off line. But, I can help you from here.

That type of printer does not do fax. You need an "All-in-one" type printer for faxing.

However, with windows 7 OS, there is a program installed called Welcome Fax.

Just type "Welcome Fax" into search. Click on "Welcome fax" and follow the install instructions.

ok found that but it says to plug phone into computer and when I do that I have no dial tone. there is a plug in on the side of my vaio but no dial tone when I do this

I do have a all in one Lexmark X2230. I have been in chat with Lexmark and they say there is a place to plug in my phone on the machine but there is not. they keep insisting there is but I have turned it upside down and inside out to find the plug and there none. (ok exagerating when I say inside out...LOL)

Is the other end of the phone cable plugged into a working wall telephone jack? Are you sure it isn't plugged into the network port on your laptop? You could check Device Manager to make sure you have a modem installed on your laptop.

Ok I am so lost here. how do I plug the phone into the laptop when it has to be plugged into the wall?

The Lexmark Z735 does not do anything but print. It has no fax. An all-in-one printer, will copy, print, scan, and fax.

I have my HP all-in-one hooked up USB (wired) to the bedrooom computer, then I connect a phone line from the wall to the printer; This is for faxing. I then connect the phone to the printer. My phone then shares the same line as the fax machine does. Everything is on my desk, computer, printer, and telephone. The printer is also wireless. When I set it up. I selected the fax wizard, it looks for a network. My wireless excess point, is my router. All my wireless equipment connects to the Internet through the router. The router, also has a built in modem. The modem is what allows you to connect to the Internet. In the living room I have a computer which is wireless. I can print, copy, scan, and fax using the bedroom printer from the living room. The front room computer talks to the bedroom printer through the wireless router.

ahhh crap sorry its the Lexmark X2230 that is an all in one
I have a desktop computer where my Lexmark all in one is also installed on.
so should I plug in my telephone to the back of desktop computer? I have a Compaq desktop in case you need to know this..LOL cause I am lost
