Hi, I have a SZ340P, installed on W7 pro 64 bit, and I cannot install the drivers of the webcam.
The model is not supported on Sony website for Windows7, but many folks around managed to install it anyway. I did install it, and managed to install the appropriate drivers for anything but this webcam. Somebody was successfull installing driver from Ricoh (but for different models..VCC3-8).

The device ids are:
USB\VID_05CA&PID_1830&REV_0100
USB\VID_05CA&PID_1830

I tried all and every driver available online, but none of them work. I also tried to extract driver from installer that only worked on Vista or XP compatibility mode but no luck.
I replied to an old post, but im reopening a new one as well.

Any hint would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried this already?

Uninstall any and all webcam drivers and and then scan for new hardware changes.

Before doing this be sure that the following is set:

  1. Start > type: "hardware" > choose: "Change Device Installation Settings"
  2. Select: "No, let me choose..." > and then either:

  • "Always install the best driver software..." or
  • "Install driver software from Windows Update if it is not found on my computer".
Probably the first one is best for this. Then set it back to where you had it afterward.

I am clean installing W7 on a new laptop right now (today) and in collecting the drivers for the reinstall I noticed that there was not a webcam driver offered by Asus. Checking, I found that the camera is using a generic Microsoft driver for W7.
I'll know more in a hour or two.

Are you sure you have your configuration is set to receive driver offerings from Windows update?

OK. In my case it was not necessary to get any driver from Windows Update. The driver was installed when I got to the desktop during Windows 7 installation.

So that leaves you with the questions:
* Why didn't the driver install when you installed W7?
* Why is the driver not showing up in Windows Update?

Two things come to mind:
* The camera is disabled in BIOS.
* The camera is defective.
