My Windows 7 laptop seems to have died - I've been fighting BSODs for years now. They ALL seem to refer to a display driver problem, and I've never been able to permanently fix it, so I've lived with the monthly BSOD.

But after the last one it refuses to do anything beyond power on - nothing displays on the screen, even with an external monitor. And absolutely no beeps.

So anyway, I resurrected an old W7 laptop, reinstalled Windows and copied all my stuff from a recent backup.

The problem, and I hope something has changed in the many years since I've seen this mentioned, is that I had literally thousands of Favorites on IE11 - hundreds of subfolders, numerous subfolders within subfolders. Of course when favorites are created in IE11 they are stored in the order in which they were created. Now that I've copied the favorites to this other laptop they are automatically displayed sorted by name. Of course I can go into the Favorites folder and sort them there, but it's not nearly as handy as just clicking the yellow star.

I do see how you can easily change the browser sort order from date to name, but can find no way to change it from name to date. I find it incredible that Microsoft automatically sorts them by date, but gives you no method for manually returning to that default sort.

Almost more incredible is that I can find no third-party software that will perform some sort of registry tweak to sort the favorites, but you folks are much closer to the cutting edge of PC technology than am I, so does anyone out there know how to get my IE11 favorites sorted back the way they were on my now dead old laptop? Maybe a way to sort the Users/(user name)/Favorites and then import that sort back into the browser?

Okay... it's been over two weeks and absolutely nobody has any tweaks, registry modifications or third party software downloads that will let me sort my IE11 favorites by date? With all the people that move favorites from one PC to another (or in my case, a hard drive to a laptop), it's difficult to believe that the technology does not exist.

What you and others need is not an easy animal to find, I've been looking for a couple of hours and I think I may have something, I remember a few years ago, SIW2 and I talking about a "favorites" manager to do a multiple sort, and check for dead-links, every now and then I think about it.

Okay, see if this will help: [Did You Know] Hidden Secret Way to Organize Favorites in Internet Explorer I tried it in my IE11, it's a bit clumsy but it works. I say that because you have to sort each individual folder.

I found two open source programs, one, Bookmark Manager I couldn't see if it would sort like you want and BookmarkSync the site was down for maintenance when I checked, maybe it'll be back up when you check.

Another way I thought would be to open the export file, paste it into calc or excel and do a sort that way, but that would be really clumsy.
