I'm going from XP 32 bit to Win7 64 bit any advice on which sound card to buy (no vista 64 bit drivers for my old X-Fi Fidelity card)

My Computer

OS
windows 7 beta
I couldn't find a x64 driver for my X-Fi Audio card (The creative site doesn't work for me for some reason). When I installed Seven x64 a driver was automatically installed. :D Might give it a try before you spend money on a new card, unless your wanting to upgrade anyway.

If you plan to go 64-bit I suggest that you stay clear of the Creative offerings, there's a ton of problems... I tossed my X-Fi for the Asus Xonar and never looked back :)

If you're the slightest interested in getting Hi-Fi quality sound out of your PC, get the new Asus Xonar Essence - it kicks butt!

One other thing you can do is just use the onboard sound. I was into all those cards and I haven't used a sound card in over 6 yrs a waste of time and money.

Not since my Ensoniq AudioPCI 1370 which Creative acquired and promptly orphaned. I vowed never to buy another Creative product again. Onboard sound soon obviated any need of mine for discrete audio componentry and ever since then I've not had a single pernicious driver problem like all the Creative customers we here from constantly.

I'am with you on that. Creative drivers are the worst thing since the mac.

Love my Xonar D2, now if only they would make some Windows 7 drivers...I'am still not getting the true 5.1 to work but thats expected when using drivers that aren't made for Windows 7.
