Hi guys, got a problem regarding my speakers. When i play media files such as music or videos the sound only comes from my right speakers. I plugged in my headphones and this time the sound only comes out from one side. Pls help.

I updated my sound drivers already for Realtek High Definition Audio Driver in my laptop but that did not solved my problem. Checked the sound balance and its in the middle already for both left and right. Anyone know how to solve this pls reply to me asap thanks.

It could just be the connections. Giggle them around a bit while playing some music. See how that goes.

double check all the volume/pan controls for all the sections since realtek can have quite a few settings, and can be confusing sometimes, plus there are often more slider-type controls on each output device properties area that might require scrolling down within the tab itself to view.

hope its not a loose wire!

I am also guessing your wording meant that ALL sounds are playing back "half-stereo" not just mediaplayer movies and music, right? IOW has ANY other type sounds played from both speakers or headphones?

Mike

Turns out my sound card wasn't properly plugged in . I sent it back to the service centre and the guy tweaked it for about 5 minutes, said the wire or something was loose, and he had put it back properly (prolly coz somebody unplugged it by accident when i sent my laptop for the HDD replacement).

Anyways, problem solved, thanks for your response guys. Appreciate it, the info might be useful to me someday if i ever get that problem again :)

This brings out the importance of previous history atleast in brief when notifying any problems.

That the lappie had been opened up by the service center recently and that the problem cropped up eversince should have given the clue that something could have gone amiss during that process. I wonder how you missed it.

Perhaps there should be a pop-up banner telling users with say less than 10 posts how to describe their problems and history more accurately (in the heading too) since this seems to crop up time and time again - many just don't read the posting guidelines.

great ideas, however unlikely they'd do it, I wish it would do just that as well as ask them to enter computer specs (not referring to this case necessarily) but It just gets old asking EVERY TIME: "have you opened or moved or had any one work on your computer lately (mem upgrades, expansion cards, rewire, etc)"

Then most will reply no until you drag it out of them - no reference to this specific user- This should be a new thread I know, so make it.... or I will when I get a chance!

Mike

(oh and congrats on the fixed speaker/GPU socket! GARDEON!)

For anyone browsing through for help

Since I came across this super old post searching for help for myself, and it's resolution was not applicable, I figured I should chime in for any other stray wanderer.

I was having the exact issue. With both built in speakers and headphones, sound was only coming out of the right side. I think my bro dropped my computer last night and some buttons on my keyboard got pressed.

What I did was to first unplug my ear buds, go to 'sound card setting' or 'audio setting', under playback I clicked the properties for my headphone/speakers (realtek audio).

From there, under 'levels', the 'speaker/headphones' slider was waaaay to the left. So I put it in the middle. You'll have to go back and reset the same slider when you plug in your earbuds.
Hopefully this will help someone.
