Sound didnt return after using DVI-to-HDMI cable

My friend has a computer that I helped build. I was testing to see if using a DVI cable would increase his graphics. It is DVI to HDMI and a message appeared that said sound was no going to go through the DVI.

Well, we switched back to VGA and he has no sound. Is there an option to set it back to not using HDMI for sound?

If you haven't start with checking the Windows Sounds playback settings, and make sure the sound card is set as the default device.

ok so this is what is happening.

Sound out works through fiber optic
Sound out works through USB to logitech headphones.
Sound on HDTV monitor works from HDMI from TV

Sound on HDTV monitor does not work from computer.

I am going to try uninstall and reinstall the drivers

Well first system restore didn't go far enough. Reverted to yesterday's System restore and its fixed. Still dont know what went wrong. The comp said audio now goes through HDMI? and then was not able to change it back? I dont know, but I am good now.
