Sound is some how disabled for some programs

For example, I am listening music with iTunes, then when I want to watch a youtube video the sound of the video doesn't work(ofc paused my music@iTunes)

I guessed it was me changing something in the audio settings, though I didn't find where I had made the mistake. So, does anyone know how to fix this?

I would suggest exiting ITunes when going to watch any Youtube videos since that is taking away your sound output still being active. The two outputs are in some type of resource conflict where ITunes is in charge when already loaded.

Thanks for the effort, but really, that's not what I want, I want all my programs to have sound, if not at all at once, regardless of each other. Another example: I was trying to watch a video in Chrome, but Mozilla was opened at the same time, so the sound in Chrome didn't work

The best estimate is something is in conflict over resources or you need to configure the general Windows sound mixer by right clicking the system tray volume control or Control Panel>Sound in order to reconfigure something there as well as any sound software for the onboard you have on.

Yes that's quite a bit! When running WMP and bringing on the live feed from the tv tuner card both hear sound without any problems. There's no conflict between the two media sources being seen somewhere.

I just ran two separate Youtube videos one on IE and the other on Opera while having the tuner card and WMP bust all at the same time with all hearing sound. I had to lower one to hear what the others were hearing. But WMP is Windows while ITunes is not quite while written to work on Windows.

Chrome? Try it out on two Opera 10.5 or 10.10 windows/tabs as well as FF rather then opening Chrome to see how that goes. Both FF and Opera use the same or equivalent flash player. With two windows or tabs open on one browser you can run two Youtube or other videos at the same time without a problems using only one browser.

That will do it! At least you were able to get solved. I wasn't able to duplicate the problem here without going into the CP>sound and toying with settings there. So how's everything now?

I'm having this same issue.

I'm getting sound from some programs and not from others

For example, i get sound from iTunes and netflix

I don't get any sound from youtube through any browser

Some programs like ventrilo i get the sound of other people talking but don't get notification sounds anymore for things such as when my mic goes active and then not active. I dont get any notification sounds from Trillian (IM program) when someone sends me a message.

I have never had this issue for over the past year, it just started happening today.

For anyone who trips over this. Certain programs have their own codecs to play sounds and others, has I discovered, do not. If you at start to suffer the issue highlighted here. Start with sound properties as mentioned above. If that does NOT work it PROBABLY means you MAY have a codec issue.

i've had problems with chrome based browsers when the audio card was set to something more than stereo.
otherwise it is a problem with the soundcard being setup to only allow one thing connected at a time.
and if it isn't that, then the codec for the audio and|or video is either missing or broken.
